Not safe !I was traveling alone on business , and at 3am I get woken up by a man standing in my hotel room. My door was locked from inside and the reception staff assisted him to open my door.It was the most terrifying experience of my life , It left me shaking .Once I alarmed that I was in the room by screaming at both men. They left in a hurry left without saying anything.Manager was apologetic and put it down to system error. However my troubles with this didn’t stop there, I went to the restaurant for breakfast and was told my room number was not allocated to any guest. Again I came to reception to get that sorted system error or not I wouldn’t recommend this hotel due to safety concerns.

MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. NOT A PENTHOUSE !!!. Waste of $1600 per night. It is two separate bedrooms and a separate lounge down a hallway. Each door needs its own card key to open. It was horrible for the kids and the adults. They kept locking themselves out in the hallway. We have to use small towels to keep doors open when we were at the hotel. At one stage staff told us to just leave all doors unlocked so we don’t have to keep using keys to open each room and the lounge. We didn’t feel safe to sleep in separate rooms with doors unlocked. Other Reviews say that one woman was sleeping with her door unlocked and someone walked into the room. The heaters don’t work well . Rooms were extremely cold. They had to put oil heaters in the lounge to heat it up. No views of the park as advertised. All you see is the roof and the heat pumps on top of the roof. We arrived to a very cold place at 3pm. Most awful experience ever!!! Don’t get fooled by the false advertising. IT IS NOT A PENTHOUSE AND IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!Update- 2nd night. We couldn’t open the door from inside the “penthouse “. Kept getting locked inside our room. Staff kept coming up to unlock the door for us between 8pm -9.30pm. This place is shocking . Thank god we carried our mobile phones too. Some of the phones to the main reception don’t even work!! Do not bring kids to this place . It is not safe at all

I was there for a meeting. It took a while to find the meeting room as it was down a narrow corridor that was not easily found. The morning tea was nice but lunch was tasteless. The beetroot salad tasted of nothing. The wrap rolls were ok. The slice was nice. It was a strange food combination.

The room was quite large, well appointed with a large double and a single bed, nice bathroom and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly. The breakfast is one of the best buffet type breakfasts I have ever seen. Hot food was excellent, there were some really nice fluffy pancakes, maple syrup, really good range of fruit, coffee, muesli, cold meat, cheese bread and etc and all very good quality. Staff at breakfast were particularly helpful and nice. The location is great, walking distance to the center of town a matter of minutes. Highly recommended.

Front house very pleasant :) Bed was great so comfy!! Not a lot of variety to choose from for vegetarian off menu/ room service. Unfortunately we were charged twice for room, so now have to wait for the refund :(

They take a hold of the full cost of the room plus a bond. I regularly stay at Hotels and never had this before. Then I had to pay in full when checking out, and had to wait 2 weeks for the hold to be returned. Not ideal.Room was fine, nothing special.Location is fine, not directly in the center of town, but not so far you can't walk from town.

We had our wedding reception at Bloody Mary’s. The communication with them up to the wedding was great. We had a meeting with Binod and he answered all our questions. The reception was stress free. We had lots of staff looking after us even though there were other functions on at the Rydges that night too. The food and drink was amazing. We were so happy with how the food came out all at once especially since we had about 50 guests. We had an amazing time at Bloody Mary’s and are so happy we chose them for our reception.

We recently visited Christchurch on an Air NZ Mystery weekend we were gifted. Rydges Latimer was the accommodation we were given, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Excellent central location, the service was amazing, and the facilities were really good (the on-site restaurant Bloody Mary's is a must do the buffet breakfast served every morning was a highlight). The rooms were really clean and warm, and the bed was super comfy. 10/10 would stay here again.
