The place was spotless, the staff really friendly. They give us a free barbecue and presents for Christmas! The breakfast was really good, I would love to come back.

Most amazing time here! Spent over a month in the Bouncing Lamb, but honestly could have stayed forever with these crazy and inspirational people. Would totally recommend for all travellers and backpackers.

New fittings, new owners, great vibe. We have been in NZ staying in backpackers for a couple of weeks and this was by far the best stay of the trip. All the best for the future guys. You’ll kill it!

Big kitchen, clean facilities but the blankets are a nightmare...you know those silky ones?Great offers at the bar. Saturday night barbecue with one free beer. Very cool owners!

I have no idea how this place has gotten such good reviews. It was physically a dump (water leaking everywhere on ground floor-- from washing machine AND freezers; grungy bathrooms and showers; no toilet paper for more than 18 hours in the three toilets on ground floor; rundown everything) and some of the staff was outright rude. The breakfast was disgusting and should not even be considered a perk. They put out two loaves of white bread and once gone, it's gone. So basically less than a quarter of guests could even have breakfast. Oh yeah, and smokers were planted outside the windows of the ground floor rooms all night. They allow 6 vans of people to park in back, so you end up sharing three toilets and two showers on the ground floor with >30 people. Icing on the cake was that they updated the checkout time to 10am (from 10:30) on the morning of our check out, too. We had a rental car pickup at 9:30 (which we set up based on their published and confirmed checkout time) and then barely made it back in time. Avoid avoid avoid this place!

I had an amazing time here in December 17’. The staff were really helpful, they helped me book last minute rides out of town to the start of the Abel tasman trek. They’re locals and knew where to go around town and even offered a lift to the supermarket on more than one occasion.The beds were clean, there were plenty of showers, rooms were quiet, the beach is across the street and I think the hostel hosted two bbqs during the week I was there.

This place is very clean. The people work here included Ryan, Daniel, and Naz did a great job helping us. They gave us a good guideline about the direction to downtown and where to shop for my specific needs for our cycle touring trip. This place is also very secured. I could leave my bicycles inside of building. I certainly will come back if I visit Nelson again.
