Interesting place here. We visited in the late afternoon and got to watch the sun setting. It was beautiful.

If you are near it's worth a look.At the carpark walk towards the water then turn right. You'll see footprints from other visitors and also where the grass has been trampled down. There is a tall tree by the beach and that's where the boulders are.We got there around high tide so walked along the grass bank. But you need to be careful as some of the bank has given away and hard to see holes as the grass is long. Beach has some rocks so ideal to wear something on your feet.

Check the tide as its not accessible at low tide. Walk towards the beach from the car park, and turn right. The boulders are further up this beach. Really interesting walk along the beach to see these round balls of rock, some starting to crack and break open.

Best at lower tides, it was mid and ebbing when we visited. From the carpark walk along the path to the beach then turn right and walk along the sand until you reach the boulders - it’s a really nice spot and there are beautiful Kauri trees to frame your photos, and over the water you can just about see the dunes at the harbour entrance

Go when the tide is out. A little muddy so be prepared to wash your feet or shoes. Boulders were small and few and far between. Ample turning around area.

Poorly sign-posted and only mildly interesting. We got lost twice trying to find the carpark. The boulders are not as impressive as the more famous Moeraki boulders in the South Island. But still worth the detour and stretching the legs for the 10 minute walk.

Ok I went.... No information at the site a quick Google search provides some insights.. Make sure you check the tides before going or you won't be able to firstly get to them or see much. Some guy drove his fancy land Rover on the beach and got it axle deep stuck - dont be like him leave you car in the car park....

I went here in rain shower.. long walk from the park and decided not to go further.. the limited car park is worse and no parking available. The best way is long walk from the lower car park along the beach which you have to care of tide!!!

No signs up, incredibly muddy. The tide was too high to get to the boulders.
