Mode Rentals

Great vehicles, price and service. Have just finished my third week-plus rental. The first two from Christchurch (Camry, 2-person campervan), and recently a Rav4 for 11 days from the Queenstown branch. A simple online booking process. Really helpful and courteous Mode staff for all 3 rentals/returns. Vehicles clean and very well maintained. Deposit refunded quickly upon return. Great company to rent from!

Very pleasant experience. Hassle-free pick up (there's a free phone installed at the shuttle ranks to call them from the airport) and drop-off to the airport and accommodating of a request for a later return. Mode was also very responsive in resolving a parking fine, promptly refunding the amount paid when the fine was withdrawn by the enforcement agency.

Really had a great experience using mode all across NZ.They were friendly and professional, the cars were always ready to go and pricing was fair.We had a bad experience only in Queenstown unfortunately as it seemed they had some untrained staff there, a customer service representative said they will address this matter with the branch.They’re always there to help by email or phone and I’m happy with our decision to use them.Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch branches were great.

Such a great experience from Mode. They were extremely prompt in arranging the car hire and delivery to and from the airport. Such great customer service.I booked my car rental with Mode and *another car rental company* through a third party and while I have immensely negative experiences with the other rental company, Mode provided a much better experience in the service. I got a car exactly same as advertising. Clean，big，new，sanitized and easy to drive. Staffs there is always trying to help and they got a shuttle bus picking me up from airport to get that car and sending me to airport after returning the car. 100% recommended for good valued rental car from mode. I will definitely use them again.

$3000.00 bond. Car battery went flat that I had to sort myself initially using their business account which would have incurred a cost of $184 call out fee through the AA. I used my own AA card in the end. Car had lots of chips and scratches that they hadn't repaired but said that if I chipped or scratched the car then the repair would come out of my $3000 bond. They must have collected many repair fees from unwitting customers, but did not actually repair the paintwork. I did not trust them one bit and I returned the car the next day. Avoid this company!Update: I have seen the Mode Rentals response. The cars were not repaired yet they charged for repairs out of the bond. Also, the AA that they say they have, costs you to get them out - that is the $184 charge I mentioned - Mode Rentals said they would refund it but I wasn't going to take that chance. The AA man said the battery was a dud at his testing so not my fault it went flat overnight. I have the documentation to prove that and Mode Rentals are aware of that, so no driver error" in this case!"

No complaints really. The shuttle to/from the airport was prompt. Our car was ready to go and got us from A to B both reliably and affordably. I chose the most expensive coverage option and it was still cheaper than the competitors. No shady business or questionable charges after returning the car. Pretty pleased with our mode experience.

Highly reccomend! Amazing service from start to finish! We hired an 8 seater car from the branch in Queenstown, 5 adults and 2 kids and it was very spacious. The car was in great condition and very comfortable. The staff are lovely and are very very helpful. We will be back again for sure!
