Muddy Waters Irish Pub & Restaurant
Great food, service and value...Had a quick meal here on our way to Auckland. I had a venison salad and hubby had Muddy's special double burger (best burger we've tasted in the North Island so far!) And bonus: Kids ate for free (Mon-Wed). Coffee was good too. We will be back for sure!

It's a smoke free place but as soon as you walk in you get hit in the face with a very strong smell of smoke. The tables were sticky as even the counter where U pay was wet and sticky and the toilets were disgusting. Service was barely ok. The bar staff were drinking behind the counter and didn't look like they were doing anything at all. Pretty disgusting I don't recommend it at all.Also smoke free signs are everywhere but still smoking anyway.

The glasses were dirty unwashed.There was hair on the cutlery.The vegetables were not cooked properly, mash potato was cold and had been microwaved.There was next to no meat on the lamb shank.Service was very slow.Our meal was not worth what we paid. Highly disappointed.

Food was ok , waiting for a while to get our orders taking, then took 20 mins or so to receive our food, On a positive note that the food was nice and hot when we received it. Overall experience is ok .

Lovely pub! Great food!Just stopped off here on the way to Te Awamutu from Auckland for a quick bite. We had the chicken burger and the lamb shank, both great. Higher quality than expected for a roadside stop off. Atmosphere was lovely, very comfortable and the staff were welcoming and polite.This will now be a must for us whenever we make this journey.

Food was good, cannot say the same about the staff though, apart from one lady at the bar (apologies i cannot recall her name, she was lovely).The 2 ladies at the restaurant side were very rude esp one of them. Very unaccomodating. We bought food worth over $150 and only bought food from outside for our 2 kids but were told we cannot eat there. There was no notice written anywhere to say that nor did anyone show us. Rather us 8 adults were told to go and sit at the tables outside and eat. With no tables to accomodate all 10 of us. No one even made an attempt to come and see if we the patrons were well comfortable. They gave our food in takeaway boxes with rudeness level at 10/10. Our first time to this place and the worst ever service we experienced. I am so upset we came all the way from Auckland and i shall never ever by mistake even recommend this place to anyone. I am really upset and hurt.

This was my first time here. I thought i will try something little before i bought my family over for dinner. So thus i bought salt and pepper squids and fries. Gosh the fish was yuck. Out of a packet and fried. I could do this at home. Sorry but i wont be going here again.

What bedtime of the year to visit...The stuff we're absolutely amazing! Can not praise them enough, from the bar staff to the waiting staff, to the staff in the kitchen..A really nice cold beer after a long day is just what we needed!The food... ooohhhhhh.... the food...Definitely worth every penny you spend that's for sure. What we ordered is definitely not what we expected... it was way more!Then the embers in the fire kept things really comfortable and cozy...All and all, it was an excellent experience! Would definitely stop in more often.
