We stopped in to VH Winery for a wine tasting after a morning on the luge. We were told we could sit anywhere without a glass, as they were expecting a big group in about an hour.We sat at an unreserved table where we could enjoy the view.Paige, our host was super polite and very helpful. Clearly knowledgeable about the wines and happy to chat with my guests who were visiting from the USA.I would have given five stars, but her colleague asked us to move to a different table do to the group coming in.Excuse me, we were sat here specifically to accommodate the group, now we’re being moved again?Not good, and it’s a shame, we wanted lunch, but instead we finished our last wine and left.

Great wine and wine tasting were the highlight, and would have gotten a much higher rating had we not stayed for lunch. However, the restaurant food was just okay and the restaurant staff were inattentive - leaving us waiting, refusing to alter a simple item on the menu, and then forgetting one of our orders. Could do with improvement.

The family went to Sovrano Estate and Winery for Mother’s Day..It was fantastic.Warm welcome when we arrived, service wonderful and the food was delicious..Very professional staff who didn’t try to rush you but actually asked when you wanted it served.. it’s so good to have another good restaurant in the area..Fantastic day !!

Went today to taste wine and have a platter with the girls. The wine was good. The service was extremely slow, and only 3 people I could see when there was a birthday party in at the same time. That is one thing..but we then ordered the platter ...and it looked like a toddler had put it together.. 5 crackers , tiny slices of bread and tiny amount of cheese ..it definitely did not equal a $50 platter. To he fair, we did complain and they gave us a 50%discount. But I won't be going back there, nor will I be recommending for its service. The grounds however..outstanding.

My wife and I took a full day tour with Don. Had a fantastic day, the best wine tour experience either of us have had. Don has a wealth of local, and wine knowledge, with passion to match. He took us to some great tastings and favorite spots and we honestly would do it all again. Thanks so much, was a pleasure to spend the day with you

Fantastic vegan options at their restaurant, which are not very well promoted on their website! It's a changing seasonal menu but each time I've been the vegan options have been delicious and just the right amount of fancy – highly recommend. A pretty child friendly venue also.

Visited during Covid 2 lockdown. Greeted by a friendly lady but she advised we could not sample as they had no seating. Bit of a cop out really, how hard would it have been to find a table and a few chairs. In my opinion this just reflects how important cellar door sales and tastings are to them. Not.

So glad we made the short drive to come here from Cromwell! Beautiful - architecture, food, wine, service. The Shed looks out into a small lake, vineyards behind, and the dining space gives you headspace. They have a grazing menu, not cheap, but superb, and the wine matching lifted both. We had the award winning lamb tartare with the 2012 Pinot Noir, the rabbit with the Pelorus, fresh focaccia and home made truffles. Service was great, friendly and efficient. We left on a high with a couple of bottles of amazing wine. Only sad we were driving so one glass of wine each. Also highly recommend their tasting flights, had one in Marlborough.
