Khandallah Village Quality Meats Butcher

I cannot say enough good things about this butcher! From weekly meat orders to special occasions like Christmas roast dinners, they always have the best quality meats available. But what really sets them apart is their excellent customer service. Last weekend, after a disappointing brunch experience, we stopped in to see if we could improve our weekend with some good local ingredients. The butcher recommended some breakfast sausages and streaky bacon, and they were absolutely delicious. They truly saved our day! We will definitely be returning for more of their amazing meats and outstanding service. Thank you for being such a great local choice!

Did you know that Ian gets fresh fish in every day? Tarakihi. I didn't until last week. It's so fresh that it doesn't smell fishy and has a wonderful translucent moist texture, it's a sustainable species, and it's reasonably priced.We haven't had fish for ages because the offerings from our local supermarkets have been limited, packed in too much plastic, expensive, and anything but fresh.I purchased three fillets (not a single bone in sight). I floured them, seasoned with egg wash, and crumbed; followed by a fast hot fry at ~3 minutes a side in butter to golden brown. Served with a slice of lemon, mashed potatoes with parsley, broccoli (which is in season just now), diced carrots and peas. Yum! Thanks Ian - and in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger - I'll be back!
