I was a foundation pupil and started in primer one with a teacher called Miss Lloyd ..from memory. It is approaching 75 years since the school opened and I wonder if there is a planned celebration ?A Mr. Kedgely was the head master back then ,and my mother ,Hazel Smith was the secretary . I cannot begin to describe how amazing papatoetoe west primary school is. My son started his first year at PWPS from not knowing how to read and write to excelling in months , with the help dedication and also discipline of Mrs Loyd. My son gained so knowledge learnt so much on a daily it reflected on himself he became less of the shy boy and started coming out of his shell he went from level one reading to level 9 and progressing . They have fruits & Milk boxes given each day they really put a childs greatest interest at heart. Unfortunately we have now moved to Australia which was my biggest down fall was pulling him out of PWPS and I can tell you this now NOTHING compares or comes close to PWPS it's so different here in Australia and with the life i me it has been my biggest regret was pulling him out I wish I could have taken PWPS with me here to Australia. So I highly recommend Papatoetoe West Primary School you will not be disappointed.

The school has a excellent community feel - teaching the students to grow up being respectful individuals, an important but difficult quality to gain these days for this techno-gadget generation. At the same time the school is working hard to increase academic levels overall - Keep up the good work Papatoetoe West your heading in the right direction.
