We were last here about a year ago. We popped in for after funeral drinks, and we were very happy with our service. We decided to come back for a meal on this visit, but were sorely disappointed. I got the mexican burger, which was pretty bland for mexican. My partner got the pork belly. This was ruined by the sauce. The garlic bread however was beautiful, but that's not enough to want to come back again. As othets gave mentioned, there was no mention of daily specials, and nobody checked if everything was okay with our meal, which Im sure they will have guessed by the large amount of food left on our plates. Drink ordered with no ice, but drink delivered full of ice.

Went in at lunch time and waited 20 minutes to have someone serve us . Why the Slow service? Especially when there’s only afew diners . The young girls need to be more attentive to the customers, Instead of standing around at the bar figuring out how to make a cocktail. Also pork sliders are way overpriced for 3 little buns . Would expect a side of fries and sauce for $21.Can’t say I would recommend this place . It’s Overrated .

Travelled from Taranaki and had a cousin who was doing the gown walk through town for her graduation. A table of 8 adults and 5 kids/toddlers/infants went here, which was just up the road from Maatatua marae. The food was delicious! I ordered the eggs Benedict for me and the waffles for my son. All was perfect!! The food come out relatively fast considering a few people had ordered before me. Will definitely eat here again if I had the opportunity and I recommend to all.

Not usually a review reader or writer. Beautiful building. Interior inviting and spacious. And that was it. We were a party of 5 The restaurant wasn’t busy. Had to call a waitress over after a 45 minute wait to take our order. No mention of the ‘Daily Special’ which would have changed one of the orders An hour and a half later I politely approached the bar to ask if there was an ETA on the meals. Another 10 mins and we find the order has not been placed. After a discussion amongst ourselves decided to wait the promised 20 mins till meal could be prepared instead of trying to find somewhere else to eat. One of our party had to leave as she had early morning work commitments and just could not wait anymore. An apology from the person who I was dealing with, not the waitress herself. And a request from us to alleviate the feeling of losing the will to live of a round of drinks totalling $54.90 as compensation for the complete mess up.Food came and we realised immediately our massive mistake of not leaving when we could have. The food was sub-par short-order cooking at best.We had not one interaction from the staff after putting our food down except to pay the bill. In fact they avoided any kind of eye contact, no ‘Thankyou’ no ‘have a great night’ no ‘sorry for our mistake’ …. Nothing. We will not be returning and will be investing our hard earned dollars elsewhere. I wish the owner good luck for the future and hope the vibrancy from his/her staff and food one day matches the vibrancy of the aesthetic of the establishment

Had quick dinner while driving through Whakatane. Quick and tasty dinners- they made me a special vegan dinner which was perfect and interesting and thoughtful. They all went the extra mile and I so appreciated it!

Had lunch here today. 3 out of 5 meals were fine. One was burnt which they tried to hide ... Salads were served dry and were below average quality. I told one of the staff that my meal was burnt on one side and they didn't care, but they did bring a tiny dish of dressing for our salads.Very average meals and service considering the price of each meal and drinks.

This place does not disappoint! We made a last minute booking for a party of 17 and the food and service were outstanding! Well done to the super attentive staff popping over and asking how our meals were etc.
