Great rentals, good quality almost new ski boots in the rentals which I was pretty impressed by. Best rental boots I've had in NZ! the staff were good too and very accommodating. Good price as well.

We love Big Al's!We travelled from Tasmania to ski at Mt. Hutt in mid July and I cannot commend the team at Big Al's enough.They offered amazing service to our family and were so happy to change my boots for a better size, after a day of skiing.We will be back and will head straight to Big Al's for all of our equipment needs.Oh and the kids love their 'Big Al's' stickers on their water bottles too!!Thank youLarni

Great shop.The staff are very friendly and welcoming, they were super helpful and attentive and have great knowledge of the area and what’s going on up the Mountain.

I cannot recommend Big Al’s more highly. The whole team is so friendly and helpful, they call everyone by name and keep all your hire history for a later date to make return trips easy. Their service is fast, and their gear is great quality. Love them!

It looked however, like everything was going to come to a devastating abrupt end when my old school headset failed.Fortunately, we were staying just around the corner from Big Al’s. Without an appointment, I popped in on the off chance that they may be able to assist. To my amazement, Henrique (mechanic) immediately finished off what he was doing then set about working on my bicycle.On closer inspection, Henrique discovered that my loose headset had critically damaged the threads on the folk steering tube.‘Game over’ I thought.Now, I know that many bike shops would have simply given up at this point but not here! Henrique, with some help from Kirstie, searched through their box of old bike parts and ingeniously came up with a solution to get me back on the road riding safety again!If you live locally to this bike shop, then you are so lucky! “Use it or lose it” as they say. That means not buying everything on the internet and using your local bike shop instead. The little extra you might end up paying over the counter will be well worth it in the long run.If, however, you happen to be cycling in this beautiful area on holiday and develop a bike fault like I did, then be sure to check out Big Al’s as they might just save the day for you too!

Awesome service and price, super friendly and very helpful staff. We rolled in after 7pm and the staff sorted my girls boots for the next day and buying some poles at a very reasonable price with great local knowledge. Highly recommend! Keep it up team!

Big Al's is fantastic - we'd never snowboarded before and they made it so easy for us to get snowboards, boots & bindings that were a perfect fit! We were planning to hire equipment up at Mt Hutt but actually so glad we found Big Al's beforehand.

We were in Methven and I just popped into the shop to ask a couple of questions about eMTB as I just had bought a eMTB on line. Kirstie was aware of this but spent the next hour or so giving me a run down of the different types of bikes, the pros and cons of them, and letting me try out the bikes she had in the shop. Even though I had bought a bike elsewhere she just wanted to make sure I had the right bike for the type of riding I do. Wow I was so impressed with her genuine interest and making time to make sure I had the right bike, I cancelled my order and bought one of her. Highly recommend Kirstie and her team.
