The Smoke house has the best fish and chips in the country. I do love some good chips soft on the inside crispy on the outside. honestly to die for the fish was much the same insanely good. The shop was spick an span and the employees were looking like they were having a good time. The smokehouse overall holds a great standard off work and there product follows suit I will be coming back 10/10 great food.

We've been here twice (so many good reviews!) on weekends and I really don't recommend it! I don't mind that the wait times have been far longer than it says on the board, but I do mind unfriendly service, young staff working so slowly and way overcooked, fish really oily batter but dry inside, and dark dry chips - actually couldn't eat them this time they were so bad! More staff training?

One of the best fish and chips in New Zealand. Choose the Ribaldo Deepsea Cod. OMG it's done to perfection here. 2nd time in three days. Had to bring some family member to try it. They also agree. Well done steakhouse team. Awesome.

The fish and chips were absolutely amazing, the chips were fried to perfection, and the squid rings and shrimp were faultless. Portions were good too.Extremely unfortunate that the staff were not up to par. They didn't smile when we were ordering and seemed annoyed that we were deciding what to order. When asked if they have water, we found out that they didn't have cups so couldn't even give us water! We then asked if there were any room temperature water bottles out back that we could grab instead of the cold ones on display and they just said no - seems unlikely that they don't have any extra water? As the building and atmosphere was really nice, it was quite disappointing, it was really confusing because it was almost like they were treating customers like a fast food quick restaurant, yet the restaurant itself doesn't give off this vibe at all.

I grew up in a fish and chip shop so I know my stuff, and The Smokehouse Café is great. We had the basic deep sea cod and kumara chips and they were all done to perfection AND there is malt vinegar on the tables. The only minor miss is the spring roll pastry was overly thick, but overall I was quite impressed.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional service and quality of a local restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was crafted with care and attention to detail, and the flavors were exquisite. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Overall, it was a wonderful evening and I can't wait to go back again!

Purchased GF Battered Gurnard fish along with regular batter and the GF piece I had tasted very strongly and had been frozen prior. Subsequently, I have gone down with poisoning from the toxic fish which includes all the symptons when you google fish poisoning! Not impressed, especially for the price you pay for what is expected to be premium fish. I have been a regular customer and yesterdays total came to $147 as we fed 10 family members. I have spread the word and we will not be purchasing from Smokehouse Takeaways again, which is unfortunate but necessary.FYI....ALL of their fish is frozen, they do not have any fresh fish of the day.

Fish disgusting, uneatable, could smell it before we even opened the paper, old grey colour. Asked for chicken salt on chips, no salt at all, and the tiniest pineapple fritter I’ve ever seen. Over $90 for the worst meal ever!! Never again.

Chips were delicious, and are a good size, albeit more on the expensive side but worth it.Fish was ok, was blue cod and was very expensive for the quality.Wait times were HUGE. It’s felt unnecessarily long considering how many staff they have and the size of the kitchen.Overall I’d like to see some improvements to speed and quality before I’d become a regular shopper here.
