Kopi-Tiam Cafe

This place is one of those places where it looks a bit rough but has THE BEST FOOD! You have to try the haienese (not spelled correctly) chicken rice. It is actually the best I’ve had in NZ and I have eaten it everywhere! Delicious food, good service and great prices!

By default the chilli level is turned down for western tastes. But the lady who owns the place noticed i was eyeing up the curry laksa and winked at me and said “I make for you proper hot”. Sold. Great curry laksa that wouldn’t be out of place at your favourite hawker stall in KL or Singapore.

It was my first time, I got a wonton noodle soup for my partner and grabbed myself a nasi Goreng. Awesome stuff! great flavour and good service, would recommend for the next takeout night.

My kids love coming here for a low key munch. They especially love the curry, rice, salad and fries. I like the cajun fish.

Awesome food at a good price. Love there Luksa dishes, and there Nasi and Mee goreng dishes.

Decent price for the portion, not the most authentic SEasian food but okay. They also do a mix of brunch, coffee, and fish&chips.

My partner and I just had the WORST experience here and never coming back again! First the waiter got my order wrong between Mee Goreng and Nasi Goreng, but I thought I'd do them a favour from chucking out the food so I decided to just eat the Nasi Goreng. It all went majorly wrong when my partner received his Chicken Simbal which tasted absolutely off and old - after one bite I thought he shouldn't eat anymore in fear of him getting food poisoning and he mostly just ate the rice and side salad because the chicken was so disgusting and off. When I complained to the owner about this, he totally dismissed us, saying that nobody's ever complained about their food. And then while I waited for him to come back and at least apologise for the food or offer compensation, I realised him and the rest of the staff were hiding in the kitchen until we left the restaurant. I have never received such disgusting customer service before, as well as disgusting food, and will never be coming back again.

This was a cute and really interesting small cafe with a great selection of food to choose from. The portions were amazing and I was impressed with the speedy and friendly service the staff gave! Will definitely be returning here often!

Friendly service, reasonably priced food, including a good range of Malaysian dishes, mostly in the $15-20 range. Quality of food is on the good side of acceptable. Excellent value for money with good sized portions. Would be happy to return for lunch again.
