Had a mean as New Years party here in 2018/2019, it’s pretty cool that a venue on Barrier can pop off like it did that night. Great memories

Had a lovely Thai Curry on Monday Night at Movie Night. The chocolate brownie was also yummy.

It’s always a good vibe and a warm welcome at the social club in Tryphena. We were visiting Aotea and always felt at home at the club - if you’re visiting do stop in! Food is also very good served by Kat and the ladies in the kitchen, and when we visited for my partners birthday they made up a special table and sung her happy birthday - was a nice touch!

Fish was dry, Currie lacked sauce, salad was nice, and dessert was nice. Was a popular spot for movie night so possibly under the pump to cater for that. Nice view from the deck.

First and foremost - never have we rated a meal so poor. Meal and service read disappointing. We were warned by locals!* Operating under L2 means you need to be seated. Twice we needed to ask for a drink and twice we had to go up to the bar which is a no no. Service is very poor to say the least with 1 waitress running around in bear feet.* We waited over an hour for our meal. We believe we were overlooked. There wasn't an apology.* When the meal did arrive it wasn't what was ordered. Furthermore it was cold - cold fish and cold chips. They promptly sorted the meal which was disappointing but still no drinks and no offer to get us another drink.* If NZ hospitality business want kiwis to travel and spend dollars they need to step up. This is the 2nd meal in a row on Gt Barrier that was very disappointing. Tomorrow we will go to the local general store and buy provisions to cook.our own meal.* Hospitality - don't cry you're suffering because of Covid. You deserve to fail when service and food is poor.

I was delighted with the very friendly environment, not busy as people were hunkering down before cyclone hit the island. I was stressed, and the barman, Muzz, was so, so kind .. thankyou, Muzz :) also Jonquil, who made my dinner, which was delicious and beautifully cooked . So, a huge thank you for showing a touch of island life and kindness on my first venture to Great Barrier, a place I've wanted to visit for many years.Cheers xxxAvrylRarangi BeachMarlborough
