New Brighton Pier
Laid back and quiet place, still affected by the earthquake. The pier is crowded with plenty of people fishing and some surfing. The shops are still more than half empty. Great place to film a horror movie.

Although it was nice to come out to the beach, the pier itself was somewhat of a disappointment. There was lots of trash all over the place and the general appearance of the surrounding area made it feel like the pier had definitely seen better days. This was unfortunate, as there seemed to be lots of people visiting the area to go to the library (first library I’ve ever seen right on the beach!), play in the playground, or splash in the water. I’m glad I visited, but it didn’t seem like a must do activity when visiting Christchurch.

Such a nice location only 15-20 minutes drives from the CBD. Large pier with wonderful views of the coast and mountains. Lovely to walk along and take in the scenary. Great playground by the beach for children to play, including water play fountains and paddling pool for children. There's even an ice cream shop across the road! I would love to bring my nieces here.Beach doesn't appear safe for swimming however.

This is a fav place of mine, ever since l can remember, l have been coming to the ramp on Brighton Beach & hanging out on the beach since l was young.It still has the whale paddling pool in the kids play ground.The Brighton Pier is very cool, with cafe upstairs & down. Next to the libuary.

Nice place for a walk and visit. A small water park nearby for the kids to cool off. Fishing off the pier is allowed at certain times. The local Countdown (woollies) across the street.

Beautiful place. Loved how they have seating & clean up areas for fish along the pier. Such a shame the shopping areas seemed empty in New Brighton as there is so much potential for its location.

Beautiful views and fun to watch the fishing. Was windy and cloudy but didn't matter. Nice library and two cafes nearby once ready to come inside and fun playground for the kids. Easy parking all around.
