Kelvin Grove Cemetery
I find it mostly quiet and tranquil. After visiting my loved ones resting place I like to take a pleasent walk among the headstones and around the area. There are some nice trees but I'd like to see more ( such as the wonderful plantings in the Napier Road Cemetery ) There is a wonderful view of the Ruahine ranges and out across the nearby city. It's beautiful on summer evenings when the Cemetery has later opening hours.

I visited the Book of Memories on the Anniversary of a death to see the name written in the Book. This is the only public memorial for the person as ashes were scattered in the rose garden after cremation. The room where the Book is displayed felt respectful and quiet, not morbid or gloomy. There are shelves for visitors to leave dried posies and ornaments. A cluster of jars in a corner wait for flowers. A peaceful visit.

An office is conveniently located near the front gate where you can ask for directions to the burial plot you're visiting. A friendly lady at the office is at hand so your queries won't be met with a dead silence or come to a dead stop.It was my first time to visit this place and being met by a warm and welcoming staff and not by a cold stare or cold shoulder is surely a memory one wouldn't want to bury.Oh, one more... There's mobile 4G signal so it's possible to livestream the interment. Surely not a deadspot.

Pretty dissapointing. You guys dug a hole for a family member of mine planned to be burried on saturday afternoon. The hole was dug friday, it rained that night. My family came the next day (afternoon) to find her hole full with water. We paid an exrta few hundred dollars for her to be burried on 'a weekend'. Very poor service as my family had to use a cup to scoop out all of the water during the momorial. REALLY. That's why i give you a three star. For the service, not the cemetery.
