The Laurel Memorial Wreath (Belgian Memorial) is one of several large-scale commemorative sculptures at Pukeahu National War Memorial. Designed by Belgian artists Niko Van Stichel & Lut Vandebos, it combines the laurel wreath, memorial wreath, 'Flanders Field' poppy & New Zealand fern, symbolising the ambiguity of war & commemorating losses incurred on all sides. A similar sculpture is installed in on the other side of the world in East Flanders, Belgium.
