Okarito Memorial Obelisk
A tall, lonely memorial obelisk with brief information on events from 1642 (Abel Tasman navigating the West Coast), 1770 (Captain James Cook sailing the area), 1860 (James Mackay arranging purchase of the West Coast), and 1864 onward. Not super noteworthy unless you’re really into those topics, but it’s right across the street from the parking lot for the Okarito Trig Walk, so it’s worth a quick look!
