Beautiful venue, stunning grounds, however....Owner is very unprofessional and difficult to deal with. Didn't listen to brides requests, and wouldn't let bride and groom turn music up above background levels for dancing! Also bride and groom had canopés for guests and paid ALOT for these, however these were of very low standard and were not very enjoyable. Just overall was very frustrating! Wouldn't recommend mainly because of Gail's standards.

I wish I had listened to the previous comments. I had my wedding just a few days ago at the venue. While the church and grounds are stunning...don't expect anything to go right with Gail handling the details. I ordered Lamb and received Ham. I had no bridal flowers on our table and when asked about this she was totally rude to the point she was about to start an argument with me the bride, in front of all my guests. She said I told her ham and she checked this with me twice ...never happened. The flowers were not there because she hadn't charged me enough to deliver what was promised. Seriously, she didn't even contact me . I find this out on the day. Then my friends told me how she was screaming at the staff while I was having photos taken.Add that when it rained, water was pouring through the roofs closest to the windows. Also any food left over is hers...she stated it was law! This is a wonderful place to get married but it will never be till great until Gail is no longer in charge. In saying all this, I married the love of my life and will never remember the above details. To me I had a wonderful wedding surrounded by family and friends.

Venue is incredible, 5 stars. Gail is an absolute nightmare. Very hard to contact before the wedding, she can not work email properly and is horrible and providing info or answers. On the day she was rude and flustered. Yelling at staff and guests. She was 'annoyed' when our photographers turned up early to scout and made them feel unwelcome. She made the groom and groomsman help set up between photos because she was to lazy herself and to cheap to hire enough staff. She needed to hire a bartender because she was incapable plus it was poorly stocked as they ran out of tonic water withen an hour.By 9pm she was storming out every few mins to tell us we were being to loud, at one point threatening to call the police, for a rural venue we were definatly not loud enough to disturb anyone other than gail herself. We had the venue till midnight but the mood was very much dampened by her antics by 10pm.The day was wonderful we had a great day and the venue is gorgeous but anything Gail was involved in was stressful and unplesentShe is to old and grumpy to run a venue like this and needs to just rent it out and stay out of the way.

I recently visited Gails of Tamahere to attend a function and honestly the place is just so beautiful. The two historical churches on the property are lovely, and gardens are so nicely kept. In addition to that, the beautiful fountain and long stretching attached pool are breathtaking.Next I have to mention the food which is all produced on the premises and not just purchased elsewhere and decorated. The little canapes I was served were exquisite, her passion fruit cheesecakes are to die for. The meats and veges in the main meal were cooked to perfection, the salads were so fresh and tasty, and served with the most lovely homemade dressings. The guy on the bar (Daniel) is such a nice guy and all Gail's staff are so friendly and really go out of their way to look after you. I would not hesitate to recommend Gails of Tamahere to anyone looking to book a function, lunch or funeral. Thank you so much Gail!

Delightful spot to enjoy a bit of natural beauty. Be nice if there were more nature to endure. Perhaps one day in the future

Absolutely gorgeous venue. But would not recommend to a soul so long as that Gail lady is running the show. The whole lead up to the wedding, the bride-to-be had told me how unresponsive and unhelpful Gail was via email, causing the bride-to-be much stress. On the day of the wedding, I didn't know who Gail was, but I was dumbfounded when the lady 'running the bar'(done verrrrry poorly, understaffed for the 120 guests attending, with only a very small collection of alcohol and drinks available) was literally barking and snapping her fingers at the staff, demanding them to do this and that. I later found out that was Gail. Gail was completely unreasonable and wouldn't allow the music to be up louder than an easy listening volume when dancing was happening, it was only 10pm and the venue was rented until midnight. Honestly worst venue host I have ever met. Do not give her your business.

The venue is beautiful but Gail was very hard to deal with.-Made my groom and his groomsmen set up the chairs when I got told they would be set up by the staff. The guests also had to pack the chairs away.-Wouldn't reply to my multiple emails when trying to organise details-Would constantly turn down the music when we were trying to dance after the reception and it was only 10 o'clock-I also felt very bullied into decisions regarding what I should do about my wedding, even when I specifically said I wanted one thing, she would insist that I had to do it her way which I didn't appreciate. I don't think a bride should have to fight for what she wants when she pays alot of money to hire a venue. All in all, venue was absolutely gorgeous, but this kind of venue needs to be run by someone calmer and more organised.
