Pigeon Bay camping ground

It is a basic camp ground and in a very good condition, higher than my expectations. There is only toilets. So, not suitable for my than 2 days as there is no shower for camp grounds. Very clean toilet, good walkways around, lovely bay for swimming and good camp grounds for tenting.

Pigeon bay have an awesome sailboat area, and the club members race regularly. There's toilets, and open sinks with cold water to wash your dishes with limited water usage, because the fresh water gets stored in a water tank. There's a walk way to the heads, and a playground and tennis courts.

Had a great weekend camping here, great playground for kids and tidy toilets and grounds. Nice wee area for kids to swim and lots of rocks to play with and look for crabs.Taps and sinks not sure if drinkable but doesn't say you can't.

Magic spot! Hidden away, nice and quiet. Very clean toilets and nothing but nature.

Great little setup perfect for a couple of nights away from home.There are no showers however so wouldn't wanna stay to long.Its a 5 minute walk to the jetty which is lots of fun to jump off

Nice and tidy place. We had a great time here. Easy to find. 15$ per site/night, pay cash in an envelope.

Awesome place! Cool that we still have campsites like this in NZ. Just a nice size too. Not far from Chch either... slightly over 1 hour.Just the basics... cold water, toilets without showers, and no power... but that's all you need when you're tenting.Perfect for young families as beach is very close and estuary is shallow and sandy bottomed.There's a playground, tennis court, grassed area for cricket & frisbee etc, jetty to fish or dive off, boat ramp, shore area for kayaking etc, walkway, and tracks for biking.So basically of the weather's gonna be good... just GOOOO!

A mixed response here unfortunately.So upon arrival, all you see as pictured is lots of very old campers / vans that have clearly not moved in years. These old vans take up almost all of the spaces on the waterfront so limited availability for visitors. The place didn’t feel overly comfortable which is very rare for the South Island of NZ.To pay tribute to the positive, the toilet as you can see is brand new so a treat on any campsite - Lovely to see however it doesn’t make up for the feeling all the old campers leave you feeling with. Another positive is pretty strong 4g mobile reception if required. This site has SO much more potential than it currently offers in such a beautiful location.
