Enigma Cafe
I only discovered this place yesterday despite having heard so much about it. I am glad to have discovered it sooner rather than later though as the service is outstanding, the food (tacos, BLAT and reheated brownie) is lovely and the drinks are excellent. Today is my second time there and I do not have a single negative thing to say. What a great cafe!

Place great for a meal and coffee which comes out in reasonable time.Even when the place is full the waiting time is pretty short.You go up to the counter to order and pay and they bring the food and drink out to you.Recommend the chicken fettuccine which never disappoints.Bathroom is not the best though.

Enigma Cafe
Enigma Café is one of my favourite cafes in Wellington. The food and the coffee are very good and the prices are fair. A huge plus is the vibe. The interior is a combination between the 60s and modern times, especially the graffiti art is unique. The music was adding a nice touch to the vibe. I love to go there and whenever I am in Wellington, I make sure to stop by at least once. The staff was always super nice.

Used to love this place. The cakes are tasteless now and definitely not fresh. Also what's up with the cream from a can? What kind of cafe doesn't have real cream to go with cakes! Both toilets have BROKEN toilet seats and have been this way for ages. Just spend the money and fix the toilet seats, man! Still has a great atmosphere (but only due to the Welly people) but little pride in presentation like broke toilet seats lol. If this cafe wasn't on Courtenay I think it would be empty. What once was a classic is now just so-so.

I went in today probably the worst customer service I’ve ever received. I had all of my food and gave the gentleman cash to pay told me there wasn’t enough in the till to take cash. I suggested maybe putting a sign up saying car payments only the person laughed in my face. But the outdoor area there’s a sign on the door that says no smoking but witnessed two staff members smoking outside (pretty certain one was the owner) so I don’t understand the point of having that sign.As I was leaving there was only two people on the floor one was busy with maintenance the other one was making coffees there was a lady waiting to be served at the front the owner practice hit out saw the lady and went hiding around the back.Come on guys do better

Randomly found Enigma and it's hands down one of the best cafés ever. The pancakes with bacon and banana, and waffles with fried chicken were absolutely amazing. Went three times during a 4-day visit in Welly. Staff are super nice too. Totally recommend!!

Quite disappointing. Ordered the spare ribs because they looked delicious when another patron ordered them. But the ribs were tough and the sauce poured all over the ribs was quite strong and made all the chips underneath very soggy. The NY style cheese cake was quite a small portion for $10 and too sweet. Finally the men's toilet was born with the toilet seat off its hinges.

Nice strong coffee. Generous food portions. Too much pepper on the brisket for a breakfast option for me and needed some more moisture so maybe some cooked tomatoes would be good or another poached egg. Scrambled eggs were beautiful
