So cool! A neat location with zero cellphone reception (bonus!) We stayed away from the lomg drop toilet haha but everything else was 5 star. Will absolutely stay here again.

Great DoC campsite that feels like you're a million miles from civilisation, but only an hours drive from Napier. There are 3 long-drop type toilets with a lot of areas to set up a camp. It's a short walk down to the river with some lovely swimming holes down there. The drive from here through to Taihape is lovely - lots of beautifully kept farm/stations in big hilly country.

We love love love this place! A great place to go off grids, enjoy the river and the landscape! Please do make a donation when you arrive or leave! It's a hidden gem and we can't afford to lose it!

Beautiful place, surrounded by pure nature, river nearby (great for swimming). Toilets could be cleaner and for such a large campsite, there could be more of them (saw only three).

Easily one of the better DOC camp sites I’ve stayed at. The camp ground is huge, there is plenty of space and lots of little hidden/private camp sites that border the larger areas. The river was super warm for swimming. We had a wonderful time, definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice retreat.

Awesome place to camp right at the foot of the Kaweka Ranges, Awesome views, lots of native birdlife, awesome swimming holes, private, sheltered campsites in amongst the trees. And it's free.

Great spot to set up a tent. Nobody was there when I was, but it looked like tons of people could fit in the site. Very close to the river where I refilled my water bottles. The stars were incredibly clear too.

Spot on location. Enough walks to keep you active, the river was lovely and refreshing. Outside off the grid, style for the weekend was the best. Only an hour or so out of both Napier or Hastings.I throughly recommend all who love camping, head out there. Take warm gear for the bed, you'll be right!Take a water filter for the river water, it's a bit earthy taste going on atm.See you all there!

This was a lovely place to visit was a wonderful drive out of town the two let downs were poor maintain of drive way going into the park and the walking tracks were in a dangerous state and very un safe I spent a week there with a broken shock on my van witch broke on the drive of the park no one helped me fix it and the ranger I ran in to out there was rude noise and not a lot of help he should lose his job over what he did to me.

Great place to get away from it all with nice views.. beautiful clean river for swimming but the water is often chilly. Can also get very windy and cold at night if its not summer. Basic toilet but nothing else, no running tap water. Listen to the morepork owls at night, a few possums round at night to so keep your food inside.
