We went for a Wetlands walk to see the planting work Forest & bird members have been doing over the last few years. Interesting to see the effort that had gone in to preserving and cleaning up the riverbanks and wetlands to keep attracting the native bird & insect species.

Part of the Hauraki Rail Trail the old bridge is still there however not always open to ride along. Information boards have been erected at the Kopu end of the bridge.

We often walk around the wetlands in Te Aroha. Usually take our dog on her lead and she loves it too. The wetlands are beside the river and there is a wee jetty you can walk out on during the walk. A better view of the lake and the other side of the river can be viewed from here. I often take photos on our walks as the changing seasons each have their own beauty.

Great site to see going over the bridge, I haven't been down sth for donkey yrs. Our country is so beautiful, the Waihou river is an awesome site to see. Pack up Yr bags an go for a cruise a safe cruise

All I can say at this time is the whitebait aren't here yet. Watch this space. CheersSince Posting previous comment I have caught 700gm of the clear White bait so they are there. This is only fishing off the river bank with a collapsible NACSAN net with some pool floats on it its top rails. Stops the gut type bait which don't like these nets & don't go thru the traps. Just how I like it. Cheers 10/10/18
