Wellington isite Visitor Information Centre

They were busy when I popped in, but someone checked what I needed, and I just needed to see Snapper Expert. Plenty to look at,and the lady expert as soon as she finished came straight to me and advised what to do. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Worst in my experience. On 28th June 2022 I had a job to get a Intercity Coach Ticket booking for Auckland through them as they are only agents for Intercity in Wellington. It was published on Isite Wellington website that their office opens at 8:30 AM. So I hurriedly reached 5 minutes earlier . I wanted to finish my job at the earliest in morning and enjoy sight seeing in Auckland due to very short time with me. Disgustingly, Isite Wellington Office did not open till 8:45 AM and feeling a bit bored I went for a short walk. When i returned at 9:15, I noticed a paper pasted on main door informing that office would not open till 11 because of staff shortage. It was disgusting. Why not right in morning did they put this information and that so made me to waste my time in waiting? I made a call to Isite NZ, a lady who took my call told me to contact InterCity Bus Service direct but she was silent that why Isite Wellington is closed. This is a problem for an outsider if they have short staff, why not they make advance arrangement or open with short staff atleast. To fill the short staff for such essential services is duty of administration. No excuse.

Lovely staff, popped in and they filled me with local knowledge, especially helpful as wellington museums where closing down due covid, saved alot of disappointment.

Ashleigh at the information centre gave us fantastic local information and recommendations, and even helped us book a trip to Hobbiton after we thought it had sold out months ago. Also stocks postcards and a rather handsome full-size Gandalf statue. Worth ducking in for sure.

Beautiful vistas but dress warm. The day we visited the temperature at the top was 4 degrees C and felt like 4 below with wind gusts up to 90 km/hr. It was very difficult to even walk to the center.
