Raw Essentials (Kaiwharawhara)

Our senior cat developed gut problems (inflammation, possibly IBD) and despite good vet care she became extremely picky with her food, to the point of only eating a few treats each day (we tried about 20 different kinds of supermarket and prescription cat food to no avail). We switched to raw essentials 3 weeks ago, and in combination with continued medication she's been eating the recommended amount of food every day and has put a little bit of weight back on. Toileting issues and vomiting have also mostly stopped. It's been a huge relief to get her declining health turned around. The product is great and the shop staff have been informative and helpful. Our old cat is strongly diabetic. We're testing his blood sugar several times per day and injecting the requisite dose of insulin. The vet prescribed and supplied foods were not bringing his sugar under control, but switching to Raw Essentials rabbit, hare, chicken and wallaby really helped. Amazing people who really go above and beyond. I've recently transitioned my two kittens to a raw diet at 12 weeks old and the team here have supported me though the process with regular calls and advice to make things easier. So appreciate this! The kittens get very excited for meal times which is awesome. Such shiney coats too! Highly recommend both the store and products.

If you really care about your pets diet then this is the place to go. Staff are really knowledgeable and since we've put our two cats and one dog on their recommendations their health has increased 100 fold. Their toilet habits have changed for the better and their coats are extra shiny and smooth. I give this place 100 out of 100. A win win all around!

We switched to raw essential food because one of our dogs had allergies from supermarket brand pet foods. My dogs absolutely love raw essential food and it's really healthy for them.

It’s a good location to get processed raw protein for pets but I would take everything they say with a grain of salt and discuss with your vet.- All their promotional material says dogs are carnivores. Dogs are omnivores.- they seem to work on the assumption your pet has never consistently had meat before- They don’t always have the same products in store.- Because of this we have now tried almost all proteins which now makes it hard for us to try a truely novel elimination diet - if I had been aware of supply chain issues it would have informed my purchasing habits from the outset.- They recommended a novel diet for my dog but never asked what proteins he has had previously and then recommended chicken and duck broth on top of it - known allergens.

They are always so unbelievably helpful at Raw Essentials. I always struggle to know what to buy but after a short conversation with the staff, I leave with exactly what I need.Prior to Raw Food, but dog was eating Hills Kibble but would not really respond the way I would like during training (ended up not caring too much about doing what I wanted). After switching to Raw food, my dog has become so eager to please for his food!So glad I switched.
