The museum itself is great, but there is also a great cafe to stop at. We were traveling from Palmerston North through to Hamilton so the stop was ideal for the kids to get out and explore on a wet day. The kids loved the interactive part, dress ups and playing in the bunker.

Well spent money. Really nicely made museum with interesting facts. The kids playing area was a bonus and we had so much fun there.Family pass cost $35 which we feel was pretty cheap compared to other museums. You can't sit or jump in any placed vehicles but it was cool to watch. We will definitely come again.

This was a great place to visit. It had a bit of something for all the family. The kids enjoyed the activities that were available and particularly enjoyed dressing up in the Kids HQ. We even saw some adult having a got too. It bought to life all that our Soliders and service animals past and present do. This place has a strong Mana about it. We highly recommend stopping at The Mess cafe on your way out with good food and friendly staff.

A very thorough look at Aotearoa's army and military history - covering not only international conflicts we have been involved in, but also giving a thorough look at our own land wars. Modern and engaging, great for all ages. Even if you're not particularly interested in military history, I would highly recommend stopping for a look.

Haven't been inside recently but a couple of time when I was young, it's a must if not been before. Great place for a break on your road trip. The tanks are fun for the kids to play on outside they there are picnic tables for lunch or a tasty hot beverage.

I would highly recommend the 1 hour guided tour. Our tour guide Shaun was incredibly knowledgeable across a vast time period and warmly answered all of our questions. His enthusiasm for the history of NZ warfare made the tour a delight. The museum is well setup and has an impressive range of well preserved artifacts.I would love for the medal room to have more written information on what the medals are for. Overall, it was a very immersive experience with dioramas, built sets and a costume corner for kids with real historic army coats to try on. Incredible.

Must a visit, very educational. The museum is very well organised, super clean, and big. We went there as it is my son's birthday wish to see the National Army Museum. He really enjoyed his time there. ♥️

A poignant and moving experience.Beautifully presented exhibits of the various conflicts the people of NZ have experienced, fought, and suffered.I managed to see everything in 2 hours, but l would recommend 3 - 4 hours to experience it fully.
