Prior to recommendation to bring my 1998 ford transit motorhome to Tauranga Diesel specialist, I had issues trying to get my vechicle started. I had lost my keys and thought it wasn't too much of an issue to sort.Ford motors don't repair / touch any Ford seevechicles prior to 2000 ( year of manufacture ). So that was a dead end streetI had 3 keys cut , reprogrammed PATS system, chip added to the key to make compatible with PATS , However it still didn't turn over or start. There was a disconnect between the ECU and the PATS which meant my options were to purchase a used ECU with a compatible PATS and key, or an engine transplant which was a last resort for me.I enlisted an Auto Electrician to diagnose the problem as well to see if they could get it started.It turned over for a minute and stopped. Unfortunately they probed the system too much to find out why it did start, that it confused the the ECU / PATS ( not sure which one it confused ) but I hit a dead end street again.The Auto Electrician recommended Tauranga Diesel Specialists.This was the best decision to date as they bypassed all the electronic stuff and made it a manual starting system meaning..just put the key in the ignition and it starts now.The locksmiths , Auto Electrician and other technicians involved during the process were a great help as they threw everything at it but just couldn't get to the final piece of the puzzle .FYI - my insurance company were terrible to deal with so rather than stress myself out further dealing with claims person , I paid the final bill myself.Positive is that : Tauranga Diesel Specialists know their stuff.Only suggestion for improvement would be to present the repaired vechicle to the customer upon pick up, rather than get handed the keys and find your vechicle down the back somewhere.Thanks Team
