Alps to Coast (Epic) April 2023 (second time)Excellent trip guided/hosted by Meg and new owners Jo and Dan.Bikes worked well especially given some of the rough terrain. Comfortable accommodation. Delicious food.Very guest focused hosts.The company is in good hands.Hope to be back in 2024 to cycle the West Coast Wilderness track.

I absolutely loved the West Coast Wilderness Trail with Pure Trails. So well organised from start to finish, and our guide was able to make everything easy and relaxed. We could go at whatever pace worked and it was great to have the Puretrails van always there along the way for a hot drink stop, lunch or loading your bikes at the end of the day, all with ease and a smile. Fabulous riding, seeing stunning scenery and a lovely bunch of new people to meet. Can't wait to discover another tour, all organised, food included so all I have to do is show up .

Initially the company refused to collect our group of 8 up from our accommodation in Christchurch.Our trip was cancelled due to Covid 19. We requested a refund but received just 50 back of the full amount paid for tour, bike hire, food and accommodation. We feel that this was not a true refund under the exceptional circumstances and not how our professional tourist sector opperates. This compsmy did not show respect towards its clients.

The Alps to Ocean Epic tour was a great experience and I would do it again. The scenery was stunning and the accommodation was good. It was piece of mind to have the van as a backup in case anything went wrong or you didn't want to ride a particular section and our guide was fabulous.

I just had a terrfic experience with PureTrails on the Alps to Ocean trip. I've been on a few group trips over the last six years, and I have to applaud the organizing team on their combination of professionalism and fun. As you would expect from New Zealand, there is a bit of informality and humor in everything they do.What were the highlights? The sense that the group leaders were really focused on the group enjoying themselvs was palpable. Either everyone in New Zealand is a master chef or they knew how to pick the best venues. The trail itself is spectaclar, although be prepared for some tough climbing if you are not on an electric bike. Their equipment was first rate, from the van that picked us up to the bicycles.

Be careful on the deposits and refund policies with this company. We had booked (after using them twice before but not again) for a trip early 2020. We paid in full. Covid hit. They cancelled. The company offered a 50% refund or 75% credit towards a trip within 12 months of the original date…costing us additional money. I said, “can we not just simply book for a trip later with no additional costs when things come right?” … answer “no”!... “use your travel insurance to recover your money” … which we were lucky enough to do but with an excess fee but didn’t cover flights etc .. so we were out of pocket!They said they would come back when things settled down. Never heard anything since. The industry is going crazy busy and no word from them. I see it as profiteering myself. They got 50% of the retail price of the trip and excuse the pun, probably Pure profit!Around the same time, we had a walking trip with another company that cancelled, and we are doing that one soon at no additional cost! That company was excellent and professional re their policies.

Experienced guide, beauty scenery, challenging ride for an old bloke ... and great companions on the ride. A fabulous time

This is a superbly run tour offering riders if all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the best cycling and scenery that NZ south island has to offer. Special kudos to our guide John. Thing to watch is their (reasonable) cancellation policy, but take out travel insurance, and it won't be an issue.
