The Boat Shed Cafe
This was the 3rd night of First Table ‘trust the chef’ dinner menus in Nelson on a 4 night whistlestop visit to see Nelson in the winter.Of all 3 menus this was the best by far. We asked to avoid raw meat and wanted a night off from seafood and we weren’t disappointed. Great variety and all beautifully presented with an explanation of each of the 6 courses. Great atmosphere and careful attention from all the staff. Highly recommended and definitely will visit again.

The food was SO PHENOMENAL I’m writing a review less than an hour after leaving! The food was absolutely amazing! Great portions - leaving full but not grossly full. It was amazing watching the chefs cook - they did such an amazing job considering the restaurant was fully packed - they didn’t even look like they were flustered! We had the scampi and clams as starters followed by the market fish and steak + potato gratin. Would defiantly recommend to book as the place was full not long after we sat down at 6.30pm

We tried the trust the chef tasting menu on new year's eve and it was really exquisite. The view by the water was stunning. The wait staff was knowledgable, especially in terms of the wine. Hats off to the chef and whole team! Highly recommend!

On Saturday 11th February, I was passing The Boat Shed Cafe and saw an empty parking place, so I stopped and popped in for breakfast.Kai & kāwhe was perfect. Wow!!!!Travelled for months around New Zealand and finally these beautiful fresh ingredients are brought to the next level.- no strong sauces on fish- delicious fresh fish & ingredients flavour- location on the ocean ( what a view on a sunny day)- service awesome- Italian chefs ( grandiiii ragazzi !)-great winesSee you soon

We enjoyed it but felt the food portions were much too small for the price. The food itself was very good quality, just not enough on the plate..Loved the vibe in the restaurant/ cafe, and the views are great.

The Boat Shed Cafe
This place has the best food I ate on my Nelson trip .Great location (close to airport and Nelson city), overlooking the water. Food was bomb. Had the baked mussels, focaccia w/ seaweed butter and ceviche with a few glasses of wine. It was divine.

Great food , nice location . Great seafood dishes , nice mussels and also great choclate mouse , great and quick service. We where lucky to get a spot without reservations.Definitely a place to revisit, when we are next time in town
