My wife and I spent a week at the Maruia Motel to do some fishing in the area. As soon as we arrived Amber and Ashley made us feel right at home. The rooms are cozy and clean, with a hot shower and a comfortable bed to rest on after a long day on the river.

Highly recommend, we loved our stay here! Was only an overnighter but the staff was super friendly and accommodating. The rooms have everything you need, super warm and clean. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Loved it. After a long travel day heater was on for us, units clean as a whistle with ample supplies, comfy as bed and telly! Eco v important to me and Maruia Motel shares this value. Lovely setting. So interesting in the blurb re the Maruia Declaration 1975, recognizing thr natural significance. I will be back for fly-fishing guidance! Thanks Maruia Motel

The fine folk at this motel saved us from spending a cold night in the mountains. We were headed to Christchurch from Nelson and were about 40 minutes through the Lewis pass before getting turned around due to a car accident further up the road. We made our way back to Springs Junction and gave this motel a ring. They hooked us up with a warm room and hot meals for the night which saved us driving all the way back home to Nelson. Thank you again to the owners.

We hadn't stayed they before but we enjoy it even with a curve ball thrown at us. We arrived to no power as there was an outage but the fact we were greeted by the owner that was warm and inviting made it not a problem. The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. We came back to the room to find the heater had been put on as it was winter after all a very welcomed nice touch. We were also offered a hot meal which was also much appreciated and very tasty. Another nice touch was having Netflix which is not always available at most places. So all in all if you need somewhere to stop when you are stuck, broken down or just tried in the springs junction area give them a try.

We arrived here dripping wet from a rainy motorbike ride from Motueka. Gravel driveway not a problem on fully-loaded bikes as there is hard standing next to the motel. This lovely place is quite far from everything so we were advised to either bring some food or be prepared to ride for a bit to a town with a cafe. However, our room had all the facilities for preparing a meal, and it was so quiet and peaceful. We slept like babies. The air was good - cool and fresh, and we felt invigorated next morning. The owners are friendly and helpful, and we were able to dry our wet kit in the tumble dryer. There are facilities for washing, too. The area is beautiful, and it was truly good to be far from the madding crowd.

My wife and I just completed a 3 week trip through New Zealand we had great experience, except for this place. We definitely rely on peoples reviews when making decisions about places to eat/stay, so we were really surprised this place turned out to be so bad, not sure if it is still owned by the same people.I had emailed the owner the night before about room, when we showed up around 4 was greeted by one of the owers she was very friendly and we discussed using her husband for some guiding. When she showed us are room she commented about the music in the next room being load but said nothing to the occupants. My wife and I got our luggage and put it in the room but did not unpack we sat on the beds in disbelief on how loud the music was, they were playing cheesy 80's heavy metal only 5-6 songs then repeat. The couple were differently partying/singing have great time, every time I went outside this creepy guy would stare out the window then the women he was with came out to smoke and blow smoke into our window.I went for short walk to explore local creek while I was gone the second owner spoke to my wife had no concerns about the music said it was their right. When I returned my wife was very upset stated the owner smelt like alcohol and she did not feel safe so we got our stuff and was ready to leave. The owner then confronted me and demanded we pay for the room (we were there for less then 45 minutes used nothing) I agreed in order to avoid confrontation but told him I was going to dispute the charge with credit card company. After running my card he then took a picture of it, now I have to cancel card. He became very angry swearing at me said something about going back to my country.I have no problems with people plying music in there rooms but it was so load and the owners did not care, there was no way we could have slept that night.
