Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided fantastic commentary. He stopped often giving us opportunities to walk around and take photos. His understanding of the different birds and seals was top notch. Awesome to have such a fantastic experience on a bucket list item.

This was unlike any tour I have done before and the main reason is the tours time length. We were out for close to 7 hours. The folk who run these tours have permits to operate in areas the public are not allowed to enter. They have these permits because they maintain, monitor and do environmental work in these areas. To say they are motivated in sharing their enthusiasm with their clients is an understatement. Every tour they do would be different because of season, time of day and tide. If you have friends who live in a different part of the world and you went to visit them and they took you out for the day and showed you around the sights, nature and historic sites, for the day this is how this tour comes across to me. Our guides know the area from a historical sense and the nature that exists along way. They want to share this with you and they do. Loved every minute of the trip, the guides and the total experience. Recommend it as good as it gets.

Great tour! Tour guide was great. Plenty of stops along the split. Make sure to take your own food etc. Sand dunes on the return was awesome! Bus was a bit tight, lots of people, summer heat didn’t help and the bus got stuck a few times but it’s expected in the sand. Lighthouse and history was good. Highly recommend for birdwatchers.

This tour is world class and is a bucket list activity. The only way to see the spit and lighthouse is on this tour. They are approved to drive on the spit to the end. The tour includes walking on sand dunes. Stop at Cape Farewell. Walking on the beach. The tour guides are amazing especially Paddy. The bonus for our tour was getting to see whales offshore. This is a must visit. I highly recommend this.

Had the best day yesterday doing this tour for the first time. I really recommend it. Our guide Anton, had so much knowledge and enlightened us about the history, flora and fauna, all with a good dose of droll Kiwi humour. Such a majestic, and other worldly place. Great value.

Be aware this one-off tour experience is a snug and cosy ride (cramped) I would have thought this high profile tourist venture would dispose of these aged vehicles. Don't get me wrong the tour is very good, well rehearsed and scripted (informative) It would have been nice to have the generous flow of of data and information edited to allow quiet time from the slightly high decibel feed. A friendly driver and and communicative business.

This was, far and away, the best tour trip I've ever been on (and I've been to London, Rome and Paris!). We had an extremely knowledgeable and witty commentator for a 4WD bus driver who had us all laughing from start to finish.Stunning views with stops for photo opportunities, local history, a wealth of stories, most amusing, EG: What is the safety protocol for finding a live shark on a tour? On a closed bus? Traveling at 55kph, on a deserted beach? The justification for this page of the manual would stun you!We walked barefoot in the cool white powder fine sand dunes at sunset and saw the orange moon rise up out of the sea on the last leg. Magical doesn't begin to describe it!Ask for Anton, fly fisherman turned walking bird encyclopedia, and you'll never regret it.

Great experience and exceeded my high expectationsPaddy, our guide and bus driver, he is so knowledgeable and explained everything that you could think of over 6.5 hours. We enjoyed the trip a lot, not just the view and the whole experience, but also great seating (we were on the big bus, right side of seats and seats just below the roof window having some cool air)The seats were pre-arranged so you couldn’t choose. (right side of seats better for photographs)Take plenty of water, sunscreen, cap, sunglasses.Food is not allowed in the bus.
