Located at 70KM from NELSON Its caves of limestone in the Takaka Hill range south of Abel Tasman National Park. The caves are located close to Takaka Hill's summit, near to SH 60. Visiting time depends on climate . Confirm on phone 03 528 8093 before planning.Suitable for all ages and Guided tour lasts for 45 minutes .Skeletal elements and experienced tour guide with hive of knowledge and presented it in a very interesting way give awesome experience. The temperature in the caves is roughly 11c so make sure to bring something warm (if you forget, they do have a couple of spare jackets you can borrow).Be prepared to climb a ladder to exit!

The cave is about 350m long (you walk through to the other end & exit there) but it has a lot of cave formations as well as many bones of moas & kiwis. Very interesting to visit

Tours run on the hour between 10am and 3pm for $30 for an adult. The tour guide was nice and informed us about the cave as we moved through it. There is plenty of parking a you can have a drink and snack at the cafe. There are also toilets before you enter. Suitable for most people although there are quite a few stairs, a few slippery bits and a ladder at the end to exit.

What a wonderful and interesting guide, so passionate and keen to share his knowledge of the cave and local geology/ history. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and would highly recommend it to people passing through the area. Hardly much physical effort at all to meander through the caves.

Interest place. Very good and clean facilities. Easy walk. The tour takes about 45 min. Run every 1 hour, starting at 10am. The guider is amazing! Kids friendly. Really nice plan to do in a rainy day. Cold inside, bring jackets.

If you are heading over to Golden Bay from Motueka/tasman the highly recommended doing this tour. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and enjoyed the many questions my 2 children had. It is a good length under ground and reasonable price. The tours leave every hour. The path is fairly reasonable with bridges and lighting to help. Good shoes and a jacket recommended.

Very cool walk in the cave with a personal guide who explains quite some interesting aspects of the background, the different formations, history and skeletons. Cool lighting gives you a wonderfull experience. Also when you come out of the cave, you have a wonderfull view over Abel Tasman and Nelson along the coast! The tour takes about 45 minutes which is perfect.
