Easy and fast booking over the phone. Lovely people to deal with, lovely vehicle to drive. My fight wasn’t coming in until after 7pm that day and I was worried about after hours pick up in their Dunedin city location as the airport pick up location was fully booked - Daniel called me just before their closing time to again confirm and discuss at length regarding pick up instructions and made sure I was gonna be okay and not left stranded without a car. Thank-you for the awesome service! Highly recommended.

Great service and fair pricing!Great over the phone service and everything went well from the online booking to the comms from them. The Aqua was great, we must have done almost 1000kms thru the Catlans, gravel roads too.Great to support a smaller local business.

Absolutely brilliant service, Cheryl was so very helpful and sorted out a suitable vehicle for us quickly. The whole process was completed without any problems and with a great price, much cheaper than other firms by far. All done with a broad smile and good banter. Would highly recommend this place for your next rental. Will be using them again.

In late September my husband rang Hanson Rental Vehicles to enquire about booking a 10 seater van with baby seat for a hire of 2 days 6 January 2023.As part of his enquiries, my husband asked if there was somewhere we could leave our car during the two day van hire and the man on the phone at that time said – yes we have a lockable yard at the back, you can leave it there.Total cost for the hire was going to be $424 plus we had to pay $500 bond as we only had debit cards and not credit cards.We booked the hire, paid $102 deposit and received confirmation 29 September 22.A few days before collection we were required to pay the balance, which we did.On the day of the hire, we arrived to collect the van.When asked where we could leave the car – we were told ..oh no you can’t leave it at the back, you have to leave it on the road.We also asked about the baby seat and how to install it and were told by the male service adviser – “Oh I don't know, I can never remember, we leave it to the customers to install it.” (Surely that should be part of the job to assist customers a little on this – there are so many different types of car seats with different instructions for installation )To have somewhere to leave the car was an important requirement for us, and we had been told that we could leave it there, so we tried to understand and explore again why we had been told that we could leave our car locked up and how we might figure out a solution. We asked the male service adviser questions like “ Who might have told us that ? Has the situations changed recently” etc. An older woman who was also behind the counter got involved and basically accused my husband of lying. The woman became frankly obnoxious, and in our opinion lacked any customer service skills.We make a policy to never support a business that treats us disrespectfully, asked for our money back, and left. Based on my experience we would never recommend Hanson Rental VehiclesAs a PS to this story , We went down the road and hired the same sized vehicle from New Zealand Rent a car where the service adviser was extremely pleasant and helpful and even explained how their particular baby seat was installed – and it cost about half the price ($220).

I hired a van from Hansen's Dunedin and what a pleasure to deal will definitely be back,staff were such a pleasure to deal with.

The customer service was fine; however, it seems staff had to ask the manager for even a small matter and they were unable to trust your words. I made the fuel tank full from Z station that's less than 0.5 km from Hanson. I made the tank literally full which means you could not add more fuel otherwise it spills out. The fuel reading didn't change. I arrived at Hanson, told them that reading still doesn't show full. The customer service guy (nice folk) checked the fuel using a straw and said it's not full and his boss will not accept it. I told him that I have made the tank full but it was hard for him to believe me (can't blame him). Anyway, I went back to the fuel station and filled more fuel up to the point it spills out and paid another 3 dollars, and went back to Hanson. The gentleman did the straw test and the straw didn't touch the fuel. I was feeling a bit embarrassed since they might be thinking that I am not making the tank full intentionally. The gentleman told me that he could go with me to the fuel station, and he filled the tank himself up to the point that fuel spilled out. I paid another 3 dollars and we went to Hanson. I asked him to check it again using the straw and the straw again didn't touch the fuel. Then they were able to believe that I was not doing it intentionally. Anyway, I was told that there seems to be a problem with the fuel tank but I never received any apology from Hanson. I believe the manager or boss should apologize to me since they made me go to the fuel station two more times. Overall their prices are great and the vehicles are new. I would give them 5 * if I had not experienced this issue. The staff was friendly and it's not their fault.
