Ok experience.Booked fully aware of the earthquake renos and it fit prettt much what I was expecting.Huge gaps under the doors (had to put our bags in front of the door in order to reduce noise), windows with draughts.Service was great though: super friendly.

First of all, apologies for a late review. October 2018. Room was clean, bed was comfy. My dog was welcomed as much as I was. Great location and parking was easy. Staff were helpful. I'll be back soon....ish.

Standard room was spacious, good lighting. Shower was old but great pressure and very hot.

I choose this place because I loved how it had a bar and restaurant which was great. I recommend the big breakfast, the mushrooms were fab. There’s scaffolding around the building which isn’t mentioned but hey it didn’t alter our amazing stay. The beds are super comfy and the Hotel is super warm. The staff are so lovely, we’ll be back.

Okay well I booked in for the first night and if I didn't stay for the second night my review would be a bit different... It would still be 5 stars of course otherwise I would not have rebooked.Ashley the very sweet efficient girl behind the reception gave 10/10 service with a no worries/no attitude approach which is exactly what is needed for people on the run with busy lives (They call them Corporates or something)The food is really good at the bar the rooms are extremely large in comparison with your 'normal hotel'I absolutely love staying and supporting something that is so grand that was built in the 1915's and is still so lovely todaySomething I'm not so keen on is some of the so called art" on other floors but I think this must be something that happened from a previous owner as the second room/floor that I was booked into (Thanks Ashley) was better fitting for the era with the postage stamp of Queen Elisabeth on the doors rather than some crazy number as shown in my pics. It would be great to show King George V that was alive at the timeI'm no expert but I think the place needs a bit more of the new modern decor/History of the building

This hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment. Our bathroom had been updated but the bedroom featured very old stained cupboards and a bed that sagged in the middle. The lift is worth a photo for the antique value. Wifi was non-existent. Car park is first come first served opposite the entrance. Staff were very friendly - gaining the hotel two stars. Avoid for a few months until the hotel is refurbished and the building work comes to an end.

Great stay for 3 nights. Good restaurant with fantastic staff. Bed was a little firm for me but clean and tidy. Enjoyed

Having a friend visiting us from the UK for 3 months has enabled us to sample various restaurants around the area. So far two of those visits (the most recent being 8th March) have been here for a meal and I can honestly say that the service by the staff was excellent. The menu had a good choice of dishes and were more than generous. From entering the Groveror to leaving was a pleasant experience. Thanks again to Destiny, Ashley and Sharon :-)

I didn't stay but my friend did and loved his room. We shared a platter between 2 of us and it hit the spot. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was spacious and aloud us to have a really good catch up. I'll be back in the future.
