This is a beautiful, easy, captivating walk surrounded with Kauri giants and other native Bush. Incredibly sad to see Kauri Dieback taking over in areas - definitely educating, precaution needs to be taken with washing shoes and staying on track as stated at the beginning of the walk.Would definitely return.

Lovely small camp. Good kitchen facilities. Great shower. Good toilets. Right beside the small kauai stand so you can go in at night and look for kiwis. You can hear them calling and rustling in the undergrowth.

We originally visited because we had heard about being able to see kiwi. We did the whole red light torches and spent some time waiting but sadly it mustn't have been the right time. However we visited during the daytime too and really enjoyed walking around this track as there were some massive Kauri trees. It was also interesting and sad to see the devastating affect of Kauri die back as there were many dead Kauri.

Some seriously large Kauri here and it is part of a 20 minute circular Bush walk on a boardwalk. Tranquil quiet birdsong - plaques with native tree details. The toilets are on the right just at the end of the ramp to the information shelter. Don't leave valuables in plain sight lock your vehicle. Well worth the side trip to get here. More enjoyable than the 50 metre walk at Tane Mahuta. Remember to look for the Weta display (unhook the bark door) next to the poem.

Amazing experience. Really lovely boardwalk through massive kauri trees. Takes about 35-40 minutes, or longer if you want to stop and look at every tree ;)

Great place to learn about Kauri in real life. Save the Kauri Forests. Protect the Kauri one of the largest and longest living trees on earth! They are dying from Kauri dieback disease.

Great place to spot kiwis in the wild. The loop walk takes you through the historic kauri forest. Easy walk. Campsite has both powered and non powered sites. There's a map of where you should put your tent. Better to book online but if you're lucky you can get a spot on the day(need cash to pay). Campsite is located adjacent to the park and you can hear the birds distinctly- kiwis, morepoks (owls). The kitchen has electric hot tops (inductive), no gas. Kitchen was also equipped with a refrigerator, toaster and a kettle. Some red paper could be found in the kitchen for the normal torches (make sure you have your own red light source). There's a very high chance of spotting a kiwi be patient and enter when its dark.. please stick to the path. Enjoy spotting a kiwi in the wild! I

This is my favorite forest walk worldwide. My spouse and I did the estimated 30 min walk in two hours and came back the next day for another two hours. Love those trees. Beautiful

If you visited and were impressed with Tane Mahuta, you'll be blown away by both the size and volume of huge kauri trees within this park. Easy circular track with lots of boardwalk. Birds, virgin bush, massive kauri. Fantastic. Lifetime memories for adults and kids alike. The powered sites are close together if busy, but facilities are clean and functional. No water for campervans.

On our first camping trip to this site, we stumbled along the visitors book and read that you can see kiwi's at night. That night once it went dark we headed out, and this short walk then took us over 4 hours as we listened to the kiwis call and move around in the bush close to you. The following week we drove back with Flash lights that were covered in red cellophane (the kiwis do not notice the red light) and sat on the walking track all night watching as the kiwis' come up so close that you could almost touch them! Every now and then we make a round trip (3+ hrs drive each way) just to watch them for a few hours. This is an absolute gem and a must do experience
