Auckland Memorial Park and Cemetery

It's an okay place, peaceful enough, starting to get established. Maybe once they have a cafe and a kids playground it might get more of a vibe going, but it feels very contrived still. It's a nice enough place to visit, but I wouldn't want to spend eternity there.

Auckland Memorial Park is located on 17 hectares (35 acres) in Silverdale – kilometres north of the Harbour Bridge. Set in a natural amphitheatre looking north-east towards the Hauraki Gulf, it occupies a spot of tranquillity and natural beauty. This natural beauty has been enhanced by a multi-million dollar programme of landscaping. A series of terraces sweeps up the enclosing hillsides, ensuring that every burial plot enjoys a peaceful aspect of surrounding countryside, or is situated close to the water gardens.
