OPSM Riccarton

I had a very disappointing experience at OPSM Riccarton on Sunday afternoon 16 July 2023 as the male staff member I encountered was unhelpful, unfriendly, and lacked basic service manners.He casually sat on the counter desk, showing no regard for customer service. I approached him with a specific request to check if they had a particular Ray-Ban frame (RB7140) in stock. He told me that they did not have it available at the store and suggested it might take 4-6 weeks for the frame to arrive. Surprisingly, I discovered that the OPSM NZ online store had the frame in stock and ready to order.OPSM is currently running a promotion (20% off lenses with a frame) that ends on 23 July 2023. I inquired about scheduling an eye exam next week (since my eye exam had expired) and ordering the frame along with lenses before the promotion ends. However, he insisted that it was not possible to order without the frame physically arriving at the shop and the frame would not arrive before the promotion ends.This left me confused as to why I can easily order glasses from OPSM online, entering my prescription and lens preferences, but the staff at the Riccarton shop couldn't assist me without the frame physically present.Despite recognising that store policies may vary, the male staff didn’t try to provide any reasonable explanations or offer any alternative options. I felt disrespected, and it seemed as though he didn't want my business at all. His colleague at least tried to make an effort to find a similar frame for me, while he just randomly picked up a frame from the shelf that bore no resemblance to what I was seeking, disregarding the material or type.As a loyal customer who has previously purchased prescription glasses and sunglasses from your store, I am deeply disappointed. Many other shops now offer two pairs of glasses (including lenses and a free eye exam) for just $300, while OPSM typically sells one pair for $600 to $1000 and charges for the exam. Additionally, I found another local supplier selling the exact same frame at a much lower price. Prior to visiting your store today, a friend asked why I still chose OPSM despite your higher prices. I assured her it was because of the exceptional service. Regrettably, my recent experience contradicts that claim. I left your store feeling neglected and disrespected.I ordered the same pair of Ray-Ban glasses (including lenses) from another shop, saving approximately $300 compared to your online store price, and it will arrive within 10 working days. In retrospect, I should thank the male staff for his lack of assistance.

Being with them since I moved overseas, no doubt of the excellent service and good variety of brands. Unfortunately did not get the discount now available in store and aside of the delay on letting me know my glasses was in store already, I super recommend OSPM.

Originally went to OPSM for both progressive glasses and sunglasses. Sight changed so went back to OPSM for a price for new lenses. $450!! Went to specsavers and got frames and lenses for $200. Sunglasses at OPSM had to be sent back to manufacturer 3 times to get the lenses right (Ray Bans). Since lost my sunglasses and went back to OPSM for an insurance claim. Once again I got Ray Bans as I liked the style. OMG, the glasses arrived and I couldn't see a thing out of them, so off back to Ray Bans yet again to get them fixed. God knows what I will get back. These glasses are $1300!! OPSM say they have the latest technology and quality product. Totally misleading.Went to Specsavers for my day to day glasses and the testing was obviously perfect as the glasses are 100%.OPSM never offered any discount or monetary reimbursement for there poor service.Will never use them again

Awesome store, really good selection in glasses. Also had an eye test from Rosemary, she provided me a lot of detail around contacts and what the benefits of each would be. Super friendly and would recommend this OPSM to others

Whoever was the male kiwi staff there yesterday was very rude to my mum when she asked for a discount on a display sunglasses. I understand that it is a very difficult time for businesses right now but he could've said things in a better way. Raising your voice does not make your argument any better. I am very disappointed and was very close to telling my mum not to purchase the sunglasses so you would've missed out on a $550 sale. Please train your staff to be respectful to everyone.

I must say, in all my years of shopping, I have never been treated with so much care and kindness. The Optical assistants are very knowledgeable and were very helpful with selecting the right frames for me. The optometrist Rosemary was very efficient and made my whole experience very simple and easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this branch to all

I’ve come in a few times in the past to look for new opticals but never been served, there’s been multiple staff in at times but I’ve always ended up just walking out.I ended up going to Merivale OPSM for my last 2 pairs and received second to none service by both the manager Kelly and the lady doing my eye exam.I was in the area a couple of weeks ago and Kelly waved me down, can’t believe she still remembered me.She mentioned I was due my annual eye exam. While I was browsing new styles she cleaned and reshaped both the glasses and sunnies I had on me at the time.I don’t even think I need an exam after that clean up. The place definitely feels a lot more welcoming than before. Great improvement.
