Waiuku Forest
Sandy trails, mostly suited to horse riding. Mtb is okay but no single track that isn't very sandy. Nice views of the ocean down the bottom. Good mtb riding for district road riding. Has potential to be a very nice dirt bike park.

An hour's drive outside of Auckland, this awesome pine Forest is Great for dog owners and families who want a bit of a hike amongst fresh pine tree and sea breeze. Adviseable to park outside the white entrance gate (if you come late in the afternoon) as there is a closing time for security reasons. visitors must also be out before then. It takes about 40 mins one way to head to the secluded beach. There are side tracks off the main one I'm guessing used by horse riders and bikers? Great day trip if your from out of town.

Great for walking, mountain biking or horse riding. Very popular for horse riding and off-leash dog walking in fact. If you're walking to the beach, it's ~6-7km return, so might want to consider bringing along water. Use AllTrails app map as there are many intersections with no directions, only road names. This is more a track with beach views so if you're looking to spend a day at the beach, maybe look elsewhere?

Very cool, informal walking tracks through pine forest. It borders the nearby sand mine so you can get a good view of the operations there if that's of interest. Easy to get lost without maps so be careful. One main road takes you towards the beach.

Beautiful forest. Good for walking, trail running and biking (on metal road).I went for a walk with my dog at 4.30-5.30pm and by the time I got back to the car it was quite dark so either stick to the road and take a torch or go earlier. Gate closes at 6pm.

There are different feeling at different times and seasons, and I still don't feel that l lose interest. This place is definitely worth recommending. It is very suitable for a half - day trip. People who live in Auckland may wish to experiment with a good relaxing environment.

A pleasant drive 10 km from Waiuku township to the Waiuku Forest Gate. The gravel road from there to the Waikato River and on to the river mouth opening up to the Tasman Sea has some potholes with a 4 to 8 km Drive to the river or ocean respectively. Several well maintained bush walking tracks, river and beach views. Dogs and horses allowed.
