Fantastic staff. Had a difficult topic to research and they did everything to advise and help me find what I wanted.

The McCahon exhibition far exceeded whatever expectations I had. And removed whatever preconceptions I had about his works. Especially The Wake series. Extraordinary, moving, beautiful.... It's on until March andI highly recommend.

I have lost count of how many years Ian and I have been going to the Hocken Library to do our Family History always helpful always enjoy our time there and most times we find what we need

The staff was very helpful when I required very old issues of our local newspaper for research purposes. They were good in the telephone and issuing of the library card so I have easy access to materials. When our Women's Club closed after 25 years, we gave important documentation of it's existence so that the Hocken Library could archive it for future reference. We are very fortunate to have this library. There is always an ongoing exhibit so it is worth the visit. My husband found his great grandfather's diary. It was fascinating to read those. Some of the materials are so fragile you needs gloves and special instructions for viewing.

I went there on a quest for insight into ephemera.What a great place and what talented librarians they have.They went above & beyond to help me.I felt it was going to be a daunting experience, but it turned into a very enjoyable, pleasant time there.
