Dunedin Hospital

A have a mental health condition as a result of childhood abuse (CPTSD) when dealing with the mental health team i was told, i just need to try harder, I'm an adult now.The ignorance of this hospital is amazing, i have brain damage which causes emotional dysregulation, absolutely clueless mental health professionals and a danger to the public.

Not all, but most doctors I have been seen by just do not care at all about you or your health. Left me with permanent damage and no help whatsoever after an injury 12 years ago that is on going. 1/1/23 I was in and didn’t get any help at all, was told to pretty much deal with it and didn’t even bother investigating why I was in extreme pain and why my leg was purple and swelled like a balloon with fluid. Nurses there are great, but the doctors on the other hand could care less. For a hospital this is extremely disgusting and I really don’t know how half of your doctors have jobs. Being pretty much refused medical care is beyond a joke and I honestly don’t know how you legally get away with this kind of stuff. My injury was left and uninvestigated for 12 bloody years. Don’t know why we ask for help when it’s not given.

Went in on a public holiday with severe abdominal pain. While wait times can vary so much in an ED the staff were extremely empathetic while treating my issue

I had a very frustrating experience at the emergency department as my leg was causing me so much pain that I could not walk properly. Unfortunately, I had to wait for five hours and still was not seen by a doctor. Only one doctor was available and he had treated just one patient before me, which took five hours. After that, he left, and there was no one else available to attend to me. I had to give up as I needed to go back home to take care of my baby. I am still suffering from horrible pain every day, and the earliest appointment I could get with my GP is in two weeks !

I have multiple sclerosis and Dunedin hospital has been truly fantastic to deal with. The neurology nurses and Drs always look after me.

Neurologist appointment was done within 5 minutes he did not ask anything that's wrong just what medication I'm on, an I covered one eye to see if I could see his finger yup I answered then did the other eye an he answered yes before I could say no I felt rushed to be out as he's trying to get me to leave I ask for a script on medication.. I could have done this at my gp where they actually lisnten

Couldn’t recommend the eye department enough - especially Dr William Shew!! So kind, knowledgable and thorough. We travelled from Queenstown for an emergency appointment the same day and he fitted us in for a follow appointment the next day as well. Great service and treatment - thank you William!

Surely this must be about the best hospital in NZ?. The staff on the day ward (cardio) were absolutely amazing. Special praise for Regina and Vincent

Came for a broken toe. Staff helpful. Doctor was quick once X-ray taken. Strapped with foot boot on all in 2.5 hours.
