Clean and tidy, parking space is okay. Staff very nice and friendly. The only issues are no oven and dim lights.Would recommend to families with children.

Place is clean, but could be cleaner. Was good for the price, though. Overall, we had a nice stay and location was great. Would also have been better with softer pillows.

If you are looking for some relatively cheap accommodation, then this is the place for you. Located close to the CBD, the rooms are quite large and have all the facilities, except air conditioning. Parking is a bit of an issue when it's full up, but apart from that, the rooms are clean and the shower has decent pressure.

The Abbey Motor Lodge is tidy and clean but the services is absolutely terrible.I booked and paid the motel for two nights. The second day morning, the motel manager rang me at 6am and asked me to leave the property in an hour because i have my friend visiting until midnight while she claimed the motor policy is no visitors are allowed after 10pm.I am absolutely shocked, the manager was extremely rude said she has cam recording proof when my friend came and leave, and she will call the police if i don't leave while i was being really polite and asked her about the term and refund. This is definitely the first time i experienced things like this. She said she have family stayed at the back and my friends visiting pass 10pm will cause potential risk for them. It made me feel like i'm a visitor to her house not a motel. She accused i have visitors wandering around the motel while the the truth is they can't find the room (cuz the room is at the very back) and tried to text me. During the whole time, i strongly felt like i'm being judged. If no visitors" is such important rule for Abbey Motor Lodge

Perfect location, close to the heart of Christchurch. The room was modern and very clean! You can hear the traffic from the road, but that's normal in a big city. Very friendly lady at the office. Would recommend to everyone!

Great location, friendly staff, good price. The room was spotlessly clean, plenty of towels, shampoo, etc. And the water pressure in the shower was just AWESOME!! Would definitely stay again. Thank you!

I wish I could give a 4.5 rating but alas it is not possible. First the positives, and there are many. The owner is great, she is friendly and helpful and works hard to look after guests and the property. We stayed twice,, once when we landed in Christchurch and again the night before we flew back across the Ditch. Both rooms we stayed in were large, modern and very well appointed. The Kitchen and Bathroom has been recently renovated and were brilliant. The showers were great with plenty of hot-water and pressure which is a rare combination from our experience. The location is on a busy road not far from the centre of Christchurch which has its advantages and pitfalls. The obvious advantage is its centrality and proximity to dining and attractions. The negative, and the only one I have relates to traffic noise. Both our rooms were at the front of the building on Bealey Street and on both nights our sleep was interrupted by vehicular noise. This may not be an issue further back in the property. All in all, I recommend this property and would stay here again. In fairness to the owner, the is very little that can be done about the traffic noise. if it is an issue for you ask for a room at the back when you book.

This motel was grubby, smelled damp and of cigarettes, paint was peeling and leather furniture split and worn spilled stuffing on to floor. Don't book for a holiday as it seems to be used for social housing only. Good shower.
