Sensei Douglas & Patricia have a great school of champions. By they personal example, as well as with the participation of other real BJJ world champions, Sensei not only transfers knowledge to his students, but also brings up strong, self-confident and kind people in qualities and values. For my son, Douglas has become a real thought leader and mentor. In the classroom, Douglas will always find a place for fun and informal communication with students ... I was told choosing a jiu jitsu school is a big decision as if you stick with it you could be training there for decades so I wanted to choose the best school in Auckland. With that in mind I’m happy I chose DS Team with Sensei Douglas Santos and Patrícia.I’ve found the most valuable training at DS team to be emotional and mental training from Jiu Jitsu, much than learning the physical skills and techniques of jiu jitsu. The emotional and mental challenges and takeaways have impacted my life outside jiu jitsu and have helped me put things in perspective, be kind, appreciate the time with my family more and be calm and relaxed in stressful situations.Although jiu-jitsu can be considered a “single player” sport, you are joining a community and to practice jiu jitsu you need a training partner. I’ve really surprised with how close I feel to everyone at jiu jitsu in just over a year of joining. I think overcoming the daily emotional and physical challenges in jiu jitsu creates the community at DS team that has incredible warmth and positive vibes.If your reading this I hope you give jiu jitsu a fair try and have your life improved by it like I and everyone else has.

Martial arts cannot exist without Discipline. Sensei Douglas and his team do not compromise on discipline and that makes them a real martial art school. Having said that, the school teaches world-class Jiu Jitsu with a lot of Fun and Love. Hence my girls, 6 & 9, have been fully enjoying their training for years (as early as 2016). As a parent, I have full confidence in the school contributing to great lives ahead for the girls.

I've been training with Sensei Douglas Santos for 9 years and during all these years his commitment to his students has been amazing. Douglas brought Jiu Jitsu to New Zealand in the early 2000s, he has competed multiple times in the most important world renowned IBJJF tournaments, and he has also coached some of his students from complete beginners to world champions in the world arena.He has connections and friendships with some of the world's most famous and awarded Jiu Jitsu GOATs, such as Saulo and Xande Ribeiro, Buchecha, and Lovato Jr. to name some. All of these world famous and multiple times champions (and more than I could mention here) had visit our school and ran seminars exclusive to DS Team students, which is an experience you won't get anywhere else in NZ.But don't let all of these accolades intimidate you. DS Team is a friendly school for everyone who wants to learn Jiu Jitsu, whether you are a competitor or not. Young, old, male, female, kids, adults, there's a place for everyone and everyone feels welcome and becomes part of the community.I've been also bringing my son during the last 4 years (he is 12 now) and it has contributed greatly to his sense of self confidence, self discipline, perseverance, work ethics, and overall grit, not to mention his ability to defend himself if he ever has to.Jiu Jitsu is not a job or a part time hobby for Sensei Douglas. I joined DS Team Jiu Jitsu in February this year as a complete beginner by doing the free trial class and decided to sign up after my first session. I was glad to find the the trial class was very approachable as a beginner having never done any other form of Martial art. The teachers at DS Team Jiu Jitsu are world class, They extremely friendly and helpful. There is a fantastic team environment with a strong focus on discipline at the school. I would strongly recommend anybody thinking about doing Jiu Jitsu in Auckland should attend at class at DS Team Jiu Jitsu.

For the past 12 months I have been wanting to transition from resistance training, as I had lost motivation and was aimlessly lifting weights for no real goal. A friend suggested I give BJJ a shot, and told me about the Ribeiro school in Auckland.I have been practicing BJJ for around 3 weeks at the school and I can say it is really something special. Douglas runs a great program for begineers like myself, and with 7 black belts at the school there is alot of individual instruction.If you are looking for change from weights or fitness or working out without any direction, I suggest you give BJJ a shot, it may just improve your quality of life in more ways then you think.

Excellent school of Jiujitsu. it's a school that teaches Jiujitsu, self-defence but it also reinforces the ability to focus and be disciplined. the skills we learn with Sensei Douglas can be translated to the day to day live(work, school, home). Also my 4 years old son has started taking the kids class which they focus on respect, discipline, attitude and so on.. which are values we reinforce at home as well. I definitely recommend DS Team for adults and kids.

Sensei Douglas Santos is amazing! I have put 2 of my kids through his school for the last 9 years and we can't say enough good things about Douglas and Patricia. It's been amazing for their confidence, their self esteem and a grounding practice based in self motivation and discipline. Highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to better their kids lives!
