Great location for viewing these lakes. Lake Hawea has an bay that makes a dramatic view set against the mountains. The overlook from here gives the impression that you are doing a drone photograph. Well not quite that high but very beautiful. The photograph is from the pullout closer to lake Hawea.

The junction point where Lake Hawea virtually “touches” Lake Wanaka. There’s a small car park with a map board & Lake Hawea in the front. There’s a large camp site when you drive down a narrow driveway to get access to the Lake. In that direction you are heading to Hawea & then Wanaka; to the opposite you are driving uphill towards Lake Wanaka, Mt Asipiring NP, & Haast. There are more than plenty of photo-stops along the way so be prepared to stop often.

One of the best views you can see in South Island. It's possible to see the lake Wanaka and very close you can see tha lake Hawea.

Beautiful joint connecting the 2 gracier lakes that runs parallel to each other, ie Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea. The parking area is rather small, at most can accommodate 5-6 cars. There's a small space for another 1-2 cars to stop over about 30m further to Lake Hawea.
