Miserable weather and the staff were lovely. Meals were timely and readable priced if a little basic. Very country feel and worth a stop. Had warm pies in cabinet which was a nice touch.

This place is absolutely everything you want from a local pub! Great food, the decor is truly unbelievable, and the staff are all tremendous!! Could be my favorite pub in New Zealand

Well what a great place to visit. Well worth a drive out from Christchurch to Leeston for the great food, great service, immaculate amenities and unbelievable memorabilia upstairs. Also had the privilege of chatting to the owner - Craig and his lovely daughter who was the waitress. Thanks for a great experience. We will definitely be back. Can't fault this place.

First time stay in this hotel. Had breakfast and dinner . The owner Craig and his son was so friendly ,courteous and helpful . The place was pack at dinner time and the crowd there was treating it like home.

Can't recommend enough this gem in Leeston. The staff were wonderful, the amenities fabulous. We stayed overnight and the room was great. Food in the restaurant excellent. We had dinner and breakfast.I discovered the next day they were pet friendly an absolute added bonus as we had accommodated our Mini Schnauzers elsewhere.Won't hesitate to book next time in town. Thank you all for a lovely experience!Well here we are again 6 months later with our 2 Mini Schnauzers who were made very welcome by Deuce the Black Lab.Once again an absolutely enjoyable stay with great food, a lovely room and friendly helpful staff. Thanks Craig, Sam, Mason and all staff. We WILL return!!

Sunday 18th July for a booked lunch party of over 20 people, service was shocking and seemed an inconvenience that we were there even though booked at least a month ago, missing food and mix up with food. Drinks we were told order now as not coming back to take any more orders. Didn't think they had 2 bottles of Bubbles asked for so had to take different types. Surely you should have been prepared. Having worked in Leeston I found this an embarrassment to the town.

Been socializing this joint now for a couple of years, and overall experience has been good. Food is top notch for a pub, service is generally very good and they have reasonable prices. However have been on the receiving end of poor customer service several times with a 'too stressed to care' 'take it or leave it attitude' from both the manager and longer serving FOH staff. Have noticed this when they get busy or hosting events. Love to support local but will be traveling the extra ~40km round trip to frequent places which consistently treat their customers with 'customer service' in mind. Will be back again sometime, but no longer my regular go to.

Regrettably, I visited the Crate & Barrel Restaurant yesterday. As a repeat customer, I was disappointed they’re still placing badly discoloured and heavily scratched water glasses on the tables. I politely requested another one as it looked disgusting. Unfortunately the waitress took it upon herself to make sure we felt uncomfortable for the remainder of our visit. It was an empty restaurant except for one other table and the menu was bar snacks and pizza menu, which to be fair was lacking in both listed ingredients and quality. When we went to pay, the Manager took it upon himself, to verbally attack me for insinuating his glasses were filthy and or dirty, neither which I said. He proceeded to tell me they couldn’t afford to throw away glasses that were damaged beyond a presentable state and to forget it as it wasn’t going to happen.Unbelievable, how this manager thought nothing of ripping a customer apart, in front of others, clearly unable to handle constructive criticism about his glassware.I’m not surprised there are staffing issues going on & are currently advertising. Attitudes speak volumes. Maybe it’s time for a change Craig. Well, here’s a handy tip, perhaps you’re unaware that by using the ‘Grab-One’ or Crate & Barrel voucher system, one actually needs to look after your customers once they arrive. That way, you’d have more customers coming through, generating more income & you’d be able to afford to replace your worn out glasses. A course in caring for customers would benefit the waitress and manager in my opinion.
