Bargain Rental Cars - Glenfield

I booked a vehicle for pick up from the Silverdale branch. Unfortunately no vehicles were available (I booked on Saturday evening for Sunday morning pick up, so a little late in the game- bad planning on my behalf). Instead I was directed to the Sunnybrae branch. While this is a fair bit less convenient, I understand it's really my lack of foresight and planning- it did mean I had to leave my vehicle in Sunnybrae. Well, let me tell you. The gentleman who I dealt with was bloody great. Really really helpful, he'd let me suss the car a bit earlier (I got there earlier than the chosen pick up time) and he explained to me everything I needed to know. I'd rented the car so we could go up north for MIL's birthday for the day (we are on motorbikes otherwise and it wasn't great weather) and honestly they've been great.I've once rented a little truck for a move a few years back and they were also pretty good. We will be coming back next time we need a vehicle for a move or a weekend trip.

It was good! We hired the green Getz, so good on fuel and no issues. Staff was good with us too

Really appalled with my experience with Bargain Rental Cars.I called them on Saturday morning to confirm if any of their cars had rear anchor points for a child seat. They confirmed that they do, and it wouldn't be a problem. I was then told to book online, so I did.I get a call awhile later informing me the option I had chosen was unavailable so I would have to pay extra for an upgrade. Agreed as by this point it was getting close to the time I needed to pick the car up.They processed my payment (the extra cost included) then proceeded to call me back and tell me their cars in fact do NOT have anchor points. The only cars that do are located over 1/2hr away and they cannot transport them any closer. They offered to provide a child seat which I declined as I have my own seat that needs to be used.They then told me it would take 3 business days for the refund to come through- leaving me with no car and no funds to go elsewhere. The man I spoke to said refunds can often go through immediately, however they say 3 business days just to be sure.Well, it is now day 3 and no refund in sight. I called the office who are now telling me 3-5 business days! I'm starting to wonder if the refund has even been processed!This is just not good enough, and I am really disappointed with how this has been handled. I understand human error, but after a litany of errors, and so much back and forward with this company, I'm extremely frustratedI called on the Saturday morning to ensure there was no issue with the car seat prior to booking, and was reassured there wouldn't be. Every interaction with this company since then has been painful, disappointing, and pointless.

Nowhere on this company’s website did it say that the rental car would be a second-hand Japanese import, 10-years old, and 103,480km on the clock. We had paid in advance for the Toyota Prius and had no choice but to take it with all its scratches and dents. We used it for two weeks and it got us from Auckland to Wellington. However, it juddered badly at slow speed. The controls were in Japanese and the ‘voice’ occasionally spoke to us in Japanese. It could have been a warning message. How would we know?Yes, it was cheap to rent but in future we will pay more and get a decent car.

Great value for money, easy efficient transfers to and from airport. Vehicle choices good, rented a RAV4 very economical on fuel, comfortable clean vehicle. No hidden costs prices quoted at initial enquiry was the costWould certainly recommend Bargain Rental Cars

The service was excellent. I was unsure how big a van I needed so the counter staff were happy to take the time to show me the difference between the 2 most likely van sizes for the amount of furniture I was removing. I also was able to quickly pick up the van, park my car at the rental office, and return the van within the same day. Everything went very smoothly. I have used them in the past and would definitely recommend them.

Highly recommend the team at Bargain Rental Cars. I had to make 3 changes with logistics and they suggested an option I hadn’t thought of, including moving a car to a closer pick-up location for us. Great people working in the Call Centre and in the 2 locations we did pickup and drop off. Thanks for the clean car and good instructions too!

First time using Bargain Rental Cars and will definitely be my go to from here on out.Price is very reasonable, no hidden or extra costs like some other companies, the car was in great condition and drove very well. Best of all the staff were great, they were friendly and made the process easy as.Highly recommend!
