Birkenhead Medical Centre

I haven’t met doctors there but a nurse for my baby immunisation shot. She was rush to give the needle on my baby without any warning or even some friendly-baby-talk at all. I was absolutely shocked and felt guilty for my baby to choose this place!! Also I asked a question related baby immunisations, she was just so rude, cut me off talking to say that she isn’t in charge of the stuff that I asked. I had to change GP three times for the last year for my baby as we moved around, but never ever had bad experiences with any nurse. Now I will have to find another medical centre. Never come back and not recommended

I had some issues with my stomach that has been ongoing for weeks. Enrolled and made an appointment with Dr. Steven Sohn. Quick and concise communication with the nurses, and Dr. Steven was thorough, and I was referred to a blood test immediately. He followed up immediately after the results, and has devised a plan to mitigate and manage my diagnosis. My new go-to GP from this experience !!!

My family and I have been going to Birkenhead medical for a number of years, our first G.P at this practice was polite but had misdiagnosed me or completely missed issues a number of times. She gave my father medication that should not mix with his heart medication he was already taking and made him very sick after that, we all changed gps at Birkenhead medical. My next doctor has neglected my medical issues for years now, she keeps giving me the same medication that hasn’t cleared up my issues. I’ve asked if I could be referred to a specialist or get a scan done but she keeps putting it off and asking me to book more appointments that lead me to pay more with no result at the end. On top of all that when I had a serious knee injury she said that I was fine, which meant I couldn’t get the help I needed through acc which left me with a untreated fracture of the knee for many months. I would never recommend this medical centre to anyone, they left me and my family feeling hopeless after wasting countless amounts of time and money for nothing!I truly hope this place gets shut down.

Friendly receptionist, and professional team of doctors who will look after you and your family.Special thanks to Dr Stephen Sohn who treated my dad.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the clinic to my friends and family

Happy with the service. Receptionist are always friendly and helpful. Nurses are great too. Even though I am always connected to answering machine when trying to reach the nurse, but they always call back within an hour or so, so no problem with that. And for the GP, I have great experience with Dr. Lum, who is always so patient and thorough when examining. Great experience so far.

The staff (reception, nurses and Marshall Donnelly) have been excellent at assisting me, very thorough, conscientious and caring. Really appreciate the support.

I changed my review thanks to quick response of the manager center and out of respect cause me and my family really happy with doctor here. Doctor Claire Han always helpful and dedicated.Please be patient on phone. That's all I have ask for. Special with people who not from New Zealand like me. We all try our best to be better.Thanks

The clinic is in a good location with enough parking spaces for patients, which many clinics don’t have. Dr Steve Sohn was very professional and friendly. Highly recommended!

My family and I have been seeing Dr Sohn and we are extremely happy and thankful for his service. Particularly when my 7 month old was down with covid Dr Sohn was able to make time for us on short notice to attend to him for urgent care. Nurses at the clinic have also been friendly and caring during his routine immunisations. Overall would highly recommend Dr Sohn and the clinic.

Doctor (Claire Han) is friendly, interested, competent & informative. I am happy with her care thusfar. My husband's doctor also seems the same & has a great way of imparting information (Marshall Donnelly, I believe). Reception staff are often very busy but friendly & helpful too. Nurses calling with results are helpful & if they miss you, it seems it's best to call back & leave a message.On the down side, do find the practice is quite expensive at over $70 for a subsidised patient (if i didnt have insurance I would only go to the doctor if in dire need if paying full price, which is not really ideal & creates an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff" approach) and the interior is in need of a refresh as it's dark & a bit tired looking
