Paper Plus Orewa

Ōrewa Paperplus/NZpost is and will always be my go to spot. I am very surprised to read such bad experiences from staff here, as I have always received the opposite treatment. Every time I come in to either pay my bills, send parcels or ask questions re: sending parcels, they always greet me with a friendly smile and help me to the best of their ability and it’s always a quick process with them.

So dissappointed with my experiance at this store. Knowing this is a NZ Post store, I took some packages to them for the courier to pick up as I live rural and getting courier out here is difficult. They refused to take them - despite the packages being labled and paid for and despite the store being NZ Post store. I know the courier comes at the end of the day to pick up packages but they will not take them meaning I either have to go somewhere with better customer service or wait outside at the end of the day and hand directly to the courier. The service at this location is rotton and I am unable to recommend them which is dissappointing as I like to support local. Not any more for Paperplus Orewa. Will not visit again after this bad experiance.

Like so many, the rude man experience, so never go there. Recommend you don’t either. Go anywhere but there.

It's interesting to note that a review I wrote in July 2021 has been removed, both from this site and the Post Shop site. Needless to say, the review was not positive and highlighted the extreme rudeness of staff, one woman in particular. I have complained to NZ Post, no satisfactory resolution however.

A good bookshop, I was looking specifically for NZ history while visiting the country. They had some general interest history stuff. I found 2 books of interest and purchased one of them. Not a bad outcome.

Avoid this NZ post store if you can. After reading all the bad reviews, I can see my experience was not an isolated one. The male staff member behind the NZ post counter was extremely rude to me and has returned my parcel to the sender for absolutely no reason after telling me he would throw my parcel outside. It's unfortunate the camera footage doesn't have audio, so it is now his word against mine. I have never had an issue with dropping parcels over the counter in the 3 years I've been sending and if the cost/weight needs adjusting this is automatically done and charged to my credit card without any issues. It's people like this that rely on others no to speak up. I'm not going to stick around to be spoken to like that. No matter how bad your day is, there's really no excuse to be this rude to someone. The worst customer service I've ever experienced.

They were rude behind my back and didn't even wait till I was out of the store to make it obvious they were laughing at me, all with a can't be bothered attitude and tone. I'm very self conscious due to having a Disability and not coming across awkward so to be laughed at was horrible and I haven't been able to go back since. With all the other reviews I can see why they need to lift their customer service game and felt I should say something, there was no hello, or can I help you even though I was one of the only people in there while there were 3 members on that afternoon. I guess it could have been worse, they did answer me. Please be mindful you're not the only one that's had a long day and laughing at customers isn't nice.

Absolutely appalling service here on Thursday 23rd June 2022. I had bought my nine-year-old daughter in to pick out a treat as she had been on and off school for several weeks with illness - she was quietly (and very carefully, I might add!) looking at some books on the floor when approached by a female member of staff who proceeded to tell her in a very rude manner that this was not a library and that she was not allowed to look at the books. I overheard this (I was in the next aisle over, myself looking at books to possibly purchase) and came back around to my daughter, who was clearly very upset at being spoken to in this way (remembering she is just nine). I said to the staff member that perhaps she should have taken the matter up with me, given that my daughter was now so upset, to which the response was something along the lines of no-one was around (absolute nonsense). I then made the point that this was a book shop, were we not allowed to look at books and the answer was again, 'no, we are not a library'... However the worst part of all was that, as I was talking, the staff member in question decided it was okay to turn her back on me and walk away - this is extremely rude behavior in any situation, let alone in a customer service scenario, I would have thought. My daughter is an avid reader and Paper Plus has always been such a wonderful place for us to visit (please note we have never had any problems with service here before, in fact I had never seen this particular member of staff before) - now that experience has well and truly been tainted and we certainly won't be visiting, let alone buying here again. Kindness might not be a prerequisite for working in retail, but it certainly doesn't hurt (especially with children). I really hope no-one else has the magic of looking for a new book spoiled, as it was for my daughter.

Take a look at the other feedback about this NZ Post site. There is one common issue it seems. The arrogant woman behind the counter! Well today it was my turn. This site (and the older man and women staff members) is letting NZ Post down! They are arrogant, often rude and offer no customer service what so ever. Today we have a storm in Auckland. I missed my courier pick up so called this NZ Post shop (within the Paper Plus store) to check they were open. The phone was answered by a man who I believe is the owner. He was OK on the phone. I asked him if they were open. He said yes. I advised him that I had some packages to drop down for the courier to pick up and asked if he was expecting the courier as usual. He said he was expecting him as usual and I advised I would be down shortly. I jumped in my car (in the storm) and drove down to the store. I handed my packages to the young lady at the counter. She was polite and advised that they were not able to take prepaid packages over the counter and that I would have to get the courier to pick them up from my home. I advised that I had called and checked in with the owner and he had not said anything about this. She said that was odd because it was his 'rule' and she advised that he had just left. I asked for his phone number so I could call to sort. She did not give me this instead going out the back and coming back with the always rude arrogant woman that works there as well. This woman advised the same thing. They would not take my Courier Post packages over the counter. I explained about my previous call to the owner and she basically said it was my fault because I never said on the phone that the packages were prepaid. This woman has NO IDEA what customer service is! Normally one might assume she was having a bad day but she is famous for her lack of customer service, her rudeness and her arrogance towards members of the public. God knows why and how she still has a job. She calls you sir but you can hear it is not genuine and there is little to no meaning or respect what so ever and she cares little about public service. What really peeves me off is it would not have been difficult to just acknowledge an error was made, take my packages for the courier who was coming there anyway to pick up the days mail and packages. No skin off their nose at all. To the young lady behind the counter..... get yourself another job. You have potential but not working with this team. They are not capable of teaching you about customer service or other skills necessary to deal with the public. You are wasting your time there and to you, I am sorry I lost my cool in front of you. I am usually a very placid and respectful bloke but today, dealing with such poor service just led me to lose it.
