I visited this spot during my Northland trip. It was good to see the first church of New Zealand. There was no one inside and the doors were open to everyone. There is a $2 donation box which could be used to donate $2 that goes towards various maintenances. There were many graves dating back to the 1800s. This place talks a lot about history. Would highly recommend! Cheers

A Beautiful small Historic Church in the First Capitol of New Zealand. I was there for the memorial service for a dear friend who had been deeply involved with the Church for 20 years. It was a beautiful day and the sun shone through the windows. The atmosphere was serene and comforting.It is one of the main attractions of Russell and delightful in its peace and simplicity.

Have adored my Christ Church ornament for over 30 years. Very special to finally visit. It was amazing to see the magnificent tapestry cushions on each pew, having seen them on television in the past. Such a special church.

WOW such a beautiful church & to think it's the oldest in NZ!!!!A must visit when in Bay of Islands, Russell has so much beauty & history I really loved walking here from Ferry & seeing the beautiful windows, alter cushions, flowers & graves was very mind blowing.

A must visit for any member of any faith or denomination.In a great state of preservation and use, with a warm and welcoming congregation (we dropped in for Sunday prayers since there wasn’t any Catholic Church around that we knew of).We need more of these types of heritage architecture to be preserved.

As beautiful as it should be, this was on my bucket list for a while. Peaceful church with open doors. The first ever church in New Zealand as recorded.
