Dave Stapleton from NZ house surveys Hawkes Bay went above and beyond for our house inspections. I first placed a local enquiry on the website, Dave rang me within the hour. He explained what was expected of him and what was carried out in the inspection. After accepting the quote, Dave sprung into action and took care of the rest. He arranged the inspection date with the Real Estate agent and got the report back to us within 72 hours of the first enquiry.There are different reports offering different services, Bronze, Silver & Gold. We opted for the Silver. The report was easy to understand and was very thorough.We were so impressed With Dave's service we opted to get him back for a second report on a second property. this one was out of his service area but he was happy enough to travel the extra distance to accompany Us.I've recommended Dave from NZ House surveys to friends and family and will continue to do so in future. 5 Stars!

My husband and I had always been tenants — we don't know the first thing about...housey-things, so when our landlords offered to sell us the house we were already living in, I imagined it would be entirely plausible that we'd discover expensive housey concerns only after we couldn't do anything about it, from having spent every spare dollar buying the place. That's an apocalypse future, there. So we needed an expert to give the house a medical checkup and diagnose all the things we'd need to address later, so we knew what we could afford to offer for it, now.I appreciated NZ House Surveys' tiered pricing—and the inclusions of each—was clear from outset, both on the website and in the introductory response email. I hate having to ask for prices. (I was brought up to believe: 'If you have to ask, you can't afford it.' Now it's a hard-wired indoctrination I can't shake off.) We chose the top-tier option for its inclusion of price estimates for rectifying faults — this would enable us to calculate how much we could afford to offer our landlords as a purchase price, knowing how much we'd likely need to retain for expensive or urgent repairs.Mr Stapleton's comprehensive report arrived very soon after the inspection, and was satisfyingly thorough. It was worth every penny — it had picked up two expensive issues that required attention! One of these turned out to be a non-thing; an incorrect detail in the house's council record (bullet dodged!), but a thing we never would have thought to get checked without the report's caution note. And the other issue, the landlords agreed to rectify prior to settlement. Within a month, the cost of the NZ House Surveys inspection had already saved us up to ten times as much!Mr Stapleton's report continues to be a helpful tool for us as new and clueless homeowners, as it concisely summarises for us what still needs work, where concerns sits on the urgent/let-it-sit scale, and approximately how much we should budget to address each one.He had also invited us to call him if we had any questions about the details of the report. We hadn't, at the time, and so I thought that would be the end of our interaction. Then two months later we were wanting to install a ceiling ventilation system. Mr Stapleton's report had already warned us that the ceiling of our rumpus room contained asbestos (not a current risk — only if disturbed), but we were unsure if this included the ceiling of a small room that came off it, so we didn't know if we could get a vent put in that one. When I emailed Mr Stapleton about it, he said by my photo it looked like the ceiling in there was fine — but he nevertheless volunteered to come back out and sight it, to confirm for us, securing our peace of mind. Which he promptly did. No invoice followed, so unless he just forgot, his 'call me with any questions' followup allowance has a really long grace period!Really happy with NZ House Surveys Hawkes Bay. Would absolutely recommend.

Finding a good inspector was really important to us as we were buying from another city. NZ house surveys was great to work with, super responsive to all our emails. Building report had great detail and happily answered any quires over the phone with great advice

Dave was amazing, he turned around 2 property inspections for us in a very short space of time. His report is thorough and easy to understand and went over in detail all the questions we had to help us make an informed decision. Would recommend Dave to anyone :)

We used NZ House Surveys Hawkes Bay for an inspection on our new property in January. I was amazed at how quickly it was completed and a fully detailed report sent to us, especially as the property was rural. We had a pre-purchase building inspection done in Hawke's Bay through the NZ House Surveys business (after offering on our first home). The service was fantastic - the report came through super quick and very thorough with lots of things flagged along with photos and explanations. Dave spent extra time on the phone with me walking me through the things he found and helping me understand what was most urgent to get sorted, where the biggest headaches could be, and how to remedy some of the issues ourselves. He repeatedly went over and above what we would have expected, to help us be fully informed about our future home and give us peace of mind. We really appreciated the service and would definitely use these guys again in future.
