wonderful place i know the people there they are nice this is one of the best firewood collections in the north island Highly recommended i got to burn 4 trees myself it is great i took 6 trees home for the small price of $140 NZD ;)

What an amazing place! We spent 2 hours in the pinetum and it was absolutely worth it. This place is gorgeous and we had a lot of fun discovering all the different tree species and their particularities. The work Ian McKean did is incredible, and so are the views you get from there.I advise you to take a picture of the map shown on the sign inside the reserve, as the paper one under plastic in the box next to the carpark seems a little outdated (the numbers and info don't match the signs you get next to the trees, so we got a bit lost haha). I highly recommend this place, along with going to Rangiwahia Scenic Reserve. These two are local gems!

A delightful location. I had no idea I would find rare Wollemi Pines here. Good level of fitness required, it's steep and slippery in places. Easy to do 3-4 kms if cover all tracks. Lots of surprises.

It’s fantastic place to have a walk and to look at different species of conifers. It’s easy to find the entrance. While with limited knowledge of conifers, it’s hard to recognize them because of limited labels. Some exercise is required like going up and down the hills. There are sheep inside as well, which are quite timid. It has awesome views with Mt Ruapehu.It’s definitely worth visiting on a nice day.
