What a beautiful little town to spend quality time. Camping is recommended next to sea to enjoy the sea sounds . Very quit place to escape the city lifestyle. But it is around 7 hours drive from Auckland.

Mahia Peninsula
A great place to explore. Climb the hill above the boat ramp for views in all directions. A surfing mecca, it usually has surf on one of the beaches as the Peninsula has beaches facing most directions. There is lots to explore around here. New Zealand's only space launch facility is based at the end of the Peninsula. You can't access the Rocket Lab facility but you can check their website for the launch schedule and view launches from nearby Nuhaka.

My favorite spot on the east of the North island...fantastic beaches ..awesome pub selling good kai with friendly service...lots to do in and around Mahia from caving to hot pools and hiking...love the place

The walk up to the lighthouse is easy enough for being around 800 steps, with public toilets located at the bottom. The only downside is the long gravel road leading out to the cape and the lack of any campgrounds close to the lighthouse.

Awesome view in one of the remote place. Must visit place for nature lovers. Carry a water bottle to reach the top. Approximately we have to climb 800 steps
